Game On! - BOM 2026 - Month 3
All documentation for Month 3 of Game On! will be available here under the Patterns/Documents Tab. All videos can be found under the Videos Tab. Block 3 focuses on the circles and on setting together the center medallion.
Becky will be posting educational videos and Barbara Black will post to her blog additional information to support the creation of the quilt. In addition to this, Barbara will be hosting monthly Facebook LIVE / YouTube LIVE videos with helpful information for successfully creating the quilt. These videos will be found where appropriate in this classroom.
The Forum will have tips from other TQS members making this quilt and posting their progress. Be sure to download and print the patterns each month - even if you are not making the quilt.
Game On! patterns are available to all Star Members and will only be available on the The Quilt Show site through 2026. After that, no pattern downloads will be available.

Game On! - Month 3 - Appliqué Prep
Becky gives you instructions for preparing a pieced circle appliqué, including piecing four squares together, tracing and cutting out the circle with a seam allowance, prepping the background fabric, positioning the circle, and then pressing and pinning for needle-turn appliqué.
Game On! - Month 3 - Appliqué Stitch
Becky demonstrates the technique for making an appliqué stitch. She also talks about how to fix a pleat using a dampened wooden toothpick.
Game On! - Month 3 - Appliqué Templates
Becky demonstrates how to create stiff templates for the appliqué circles int he center medallion and corners of the quilt by printing on card stock and then laminating them.

Becky gives you instructions for appliquéing the corner circles, including pressing the fabric, tracing the circles, appliquéing the circles, along with trimming and positioning.
Game On! - Month 3 - Overlay
Becky demonstrates how to create and use clear vinyl placement overlays for the center medallion and corner circles of the quilt to ensure accurate positioning of the circles and the lines from the pieced four patch.

Becky provides instructions for joining the pieced corner units and points of a block, including matching seams, while keeping seams allowances out of the way, removing paper from seam allowances, and marking the raw cutting edge on the fabric’s wrong side before the final paper removal.

A continuation of “Set Corners” - Becky provides instructions for joining the pieced units, setting the corner square into the opening while avoiding bulky seams, and positioning and pinning the corner appliqué circles before trimming the block to its final size.

Becky shows you how to trim the center medallion using an 18” square ruler and then how to attach the narrow and larger sashing strips to the block.

In Month 3, we’ll assemble the center medallion—mixing a bit of appliqué with set-in piecing. And if everything isn’t 100% perfect, Barbara has the perfect solution to make it work beautifully.
