Basket Rendezvous - Latest Class
Alex says about Basket Rendezvous,
"It’s safe to say that I will never tire of our beloved classic blocks, those familiar beauties that have withstood the test of time. The Basket block, in its many variations, certainly falls under the heading of “classic.” Given that I’m also drawn to patterns that offer options for diagonal shading and sets, the Basket block, with its on-point orientation, holds double the attraction.
When designing Basket Rendezvous, I felt kind of like Goldilocks as I auditioned each possible block setting. I started off with all the basket handles facing toward the top of the quilt but that felt too predictable, so I began twisting and turning the blocks to face in a variety of different directions. Whoa! There were tons of different design opportunities. In fact, there were so many terrific options that I decided I needed a consultation. With the aid of modern technology (my phone—don’t you love it?), I snapped away, and sought the opinion of a quilting friend. After multiple ex- changes, we hit upon the setting—blocks grouped in fours, handles facing out—that seemed to say, “Ah! Just right!”
