Are we to trace the vases from the 4 pieces of the pattern we tape together? I don't see a separate pattern piece for them like the rest of the block.

Yes. Tape the four pattern pages together for the full size pattern. Trace the vase on your choice of product, I use Print & Piece Fuse Lite, to create the vase.
