Do we cut away the background fabric behind the trees? I am about to attach my outer road and cannot find anywhere that tells me whether or not to remove the background. I wonder if it will, be too bulky if I leave it in.

I would cut away, If you are planning to have it machine quilted I would not worry about the extra fabric.

I would appreciate someone measuring from the base of their house to top of the tree placement. Is it 10 1/2"?

I am an appliquer and love the look of this with the trees. I bought a double needle for my sewing machine and want to try that. My bias is black and my sky is a black with colored polka dots. I really wonder if the tree trunks will show up on...

I really wonder if the tree trunks will show up on my sky at all. Maybe it doesn't matter since mine is night anyway. I will try it. I sewed all 16 houses 3 and 4 in the last few days! I was a bit behind. Now to do the trees and sew that circle....

I did one and love it but agree the tops don't match. My corners are not right either. I used a no melt plastic template traced from a printed template. So glad I only made one tree. It ruffles along the bottom if I match the tops and corners.

I am enjoying this BOM. I inherited some wonderful hand dyed fabrics from a dear Friend Hari Walner and I am using those fabrics to make my houses. The colors are really making this quilt come alive. Thanks for this great project.

I am trying to place the layout guide. If I place it to the top of the two house piece I have a half inch (on the center line) at the bottom of the houses. Am I supposed to allow a quarter inch above the template for seam allowance (making it a...

I am trying to place the layout guide. If I place it to the top of the two house piece I have a half inch (on the center line) at the bottom of the houses. Am I supposed to allow a quarter inch above the template for seam allowance (making it a quarter of an inch at the bottom? Is the template short of the total length of the house and background?

I am very confused . . . help!

Barbara did post a clarification but it is still not clear to me. the small house pairs have a seam allowance included at the top as does the tree top. it seems to me the edges of the top of the house pairs should lineup with the edge of the tree...

Ah man my circle of houses didn’t go together very nicely! If you measure a across the whole circle what should the measurement be? I have a feeling I’m going to be unsewing! I dread the thought of adding the next circle....?

My background fabric design shows through the tree top fabrics a bit. By the time it is quilted, it will probably be fine, but is there merit in considering trimming the background fabric out from behind the tree tops to also reduce bulk?
