Friendship in Pink and Red
The featured quilt was made by The South Plains Quilt Guild in 2012 for long-time member Jackie Reis. It is titled “Sisters Memory Quilt for Jackie Reis from S. P. Q. G., Lubbock, TX 2012.” Each block lists the handwritten name of the maker in Pigma pen.
Jackie Reis was an important figure in the quilting revival of Lubbock, Texas at the end of the 20th and beginning of the 21st centuries. Unhappy with the inaccuracy of patterns she encountered, Jackie began drafting patterns of interesting quilt blocks that quilters could trust to be successful. Her encouraging teaching manner and very popular pattern designs led Jackie to found a very successful home-based company called Accu-Pattern.
