The iron can be with or without steam. The pressing surface is important, so use a firm surface. Alex covers setting a seam and pressing to one side - based on the instructions - on the right side. Alex shares how the seams should be pressed open when there are more than six seams coming together. The length and width of the grain of the fabric is also discussed and how pressing seams on the bias need to be pressed - press the stitched seams - not the raw edge as it will stretch. When pressing appliqué or embroidery, use a padded surface to keep the appliqué / stitches from being "squished".
