This was a fun quilt to make. I really enjoyed making this. From choosing fabrics to the assembly. Some of the buildings were very challenging and others were just fun to do.
I'm sorry there is no picture of it. I just cannot for the life of me figure out how to post one.
Thank you Barbara for your wonderful videos for each section. They really helped me out. Now if you or someone could post a tutorial on how to post a picture, I would be very grateful.Last edited by Ruth W.; 11-21-2021, 05:33 PM.Ruth Wilson

Love your Opera house. I have been struggling about its horizontal shape & how to fit into a corner, but I think I will do just what you did! Love your happy colors! I have such great memories of Sydney
-
Sydney Opera House is lovely! I have never been fortunate enough to even visit Australia but I am planning to use use your ideas if I may to put this beautiful building into my Color My World Quilt some day - call it a tribute to Wendy Williams!

Instead of thin, tall structures I decided on broad waterfront structures that mean something to me and they became too WIDE for the corners. I have not yet seen that anyone else has enlarged the corners! I have eliminated two of the tall corner buildings at each of the corners-8 tall structures I didn't have to do!! I have one corner, The Gateway Arch, to finish and then can put it all together. Other corners are The Might Mac, Leo Friego; and the Golden Gate Bridges...its been a blast... so far. Hope it will all go together~!!Last edited by BarbaraByron; 11-22-2021, 08:23 AM.

BarbaraByron I would LOVE to see your top with all the great changes, even if it's not 100% done, please post a photo! (Barbara Black posted a page before this where instructions are to upload a photo if you don't know how.) Thank you.Last edited by Janis P.; 12-12-2021, 05:09 PM.

Really want to see this one too with all the changes! I vote you post it now, as another member said, even if not finished!

I finished the top today. I used all scraps like so many. It is a big quilt so I opted for a smaller border of material that I had on hand. I wanted to frame the quilt so I used some of the left over bias tape. I hand stitched all my black bias tape on this quilt. I always enjoy some hand work. It is a stunning quilt. I had no problems with the final houses fitting the circle and was so pleased.
I appreciate all the wonderful tips given during this process and the many ideas shared. I am looking forward to the 2022 BOM.

I have completed the top. I joined the Quilt Show to do this BOM, and have enjoyed doing it. Some frustrating bits, but I just needed to remember to slow down and be accurate. I did two borders, the first a narrow border using the background fabric and then the second was the same fabric as the background to the mariner's compass. Thank you Wendy Williams for such a great pattern and thank you Barbara Black for all your videos, lives and blogs to help us on our way. Now to quilt it.Queensland Australia

I may have to steal that palm tree! My husband is helping with decisions on the Color My World quilt we are planning and that palm is going to make us nostalgic for California and our "higher education" days, courtship, marriage and birth of first son. Now dreaming of palms and orange groves and the ocean and . . . .

All done! I enjoyed working on this very much. I love paper piecing so it was right up my alley. I was intrigued with the theme of the quilt this year. My sister and I traveled extensively as we both loved exploring new places. This quilt was done in her memory. Each corner piece represented a place we visited. Luckily, 2 of the blocks were done for me since we visited Big Ben and the Eiffel Tower. The lighthouse represents Cape Cod and the windmill represents our trip to Holland. Almost all the fabrics I used are Tula Pink. I did the quilting. Mostly ruler work with free motion in the background.
