    Adding house numbers

I'm quite behind on my BOM, but now have all the tall buildings of the outer ring done. I would like to add some house numbers and ideally a street name to a few of the tall buildings to commemorate buildings that were significant to my family, but I'm not sure how best to put them on as most of the pieces are quite small except for the doors.

For those of you who added house numbers or addresses, how and where did you add them? I've considered machine embroidery but the basic embroidery alphabets that come with my machine are not too appealing, or possibly printing a sign of some sort and fusing it on...even hand embroidery. Any suggestions welcome!

My quilt was done with wool appliqué, so I did lots of personalizing with house numbers and building names. I’d suggest doing hand embroidery. I’ve attached a few photos of some of mine to give you some ideas.

Sites like OESD for Bernina or Urban Threads and embroidery.com have digitized fonts you can buy and import. However, size options are limited . Smallest I have seen is 1/4 inch. Some become very hard to read. I think the lovely hand work done above gives better results. Or…. Paint them on , using a stencil. Practice on other scrap fabric. Maybe make a rectangular sign and stitch it on?
