Well, we made it to Kilaga Springs and thank goodness they had the air conditioning on full tilt. I probably should have worn a hat like Flat Rita. She's so clever. We waited in line, got our ticket, as only members could get in. (I snuck Flat Rita inside my purse. No one suspected!) While waiting we saw Alex come in and she wasn't too busy, so I asked Alex if I could get a picture of Flat Rita with one of her quilts. Being the dear that she is, Alex let me take a picture with her in front of one of her quilts. You can see by the picture that Flat Rita just beamed! Alex was telling me how much fun the taping was with Flat Rita there. And what a beautiful singer the 3d Rita is.
Flat Rita and I enjoyed Alex's presentation. It was funny and inspiring.

Flat Rita and I had to leave before show and tell because someone has a day job that was calling.
Flat Rita was a good sport, because she allowed me to take a side trip to pick up some doggy bags. There is a group here in Sun City we call the "Pot Police." They get after you for any small infraction, so whenever I'm near the doggy bag dispenser I try to grab a few more for my dog Duke. These doggy bags aren't the type that you get when you can't eat all your dinner at the restaurant. These doggy bags are for, well, the other end of the doggy! Even though it was very hot and smoky Flat Rita was a sport and helped me carry the doggy bags home. I had to promise Flat Rita that I wouldn't make her take Duke for a walk today as it is just too hot and smoky.
We finally got home and Flat Rita is resting while I'm making work calls and such. (And writing about our adventure!)
I promised Flat Rita red wine with dinner tonight and she is now speaking to me again. I hope Flat Rita will remember Northern California with good feelings. Even though it was too hot and smoky. (Maybe the red wine from local wineries will help!)
Thanks Flat Rita for spending the afternoon with me.

Wendy, I think you are very famous now too! I love your stitches book and I will have to try and do one myself now.
As for flat Rita....shush, don't tell Lorchen but I have slipped out of her suitcase (I had no internet connection in there) and besides which the maltesers are all gone.
Geneva, thanksh for taking me out to meet hic! Alexsh again. She is one fabarooney lady and I hope to meet her in 3D shomeday. I am shooo glad I had my hat today hic! Oh and the Californian winesh are delish hic!
Wendy, a cup of tea and a bit of that lardy cake that Rosemary was talking, a dash of brandy and I will be able to face you, awestruck and all as I will be.

Hi all -
Flat Rita spent the day yesterday at the Rocky Mountain Quilt Festival in Loveland, CO. And what a wonderful time she had!! She and I got there early and just hung out outside until the doors opened. She decided to spend the day in the pocket of my purse so she could see everything, but wouldn't get too tired out. After all, she's also at the Festival of Quilts so it's a pretty big day for her!
This show included quilts from the local guilds as well as the entire set of Hoffman Challenge quilts. There were also a bunch of good vendors, but Flat Rita was very careful with her money. I wasn't!! As we were enjoying the Hoffman Challenge quilts, we came across one that we really loved and Flat Rita insisted that we get a picture of her enjoying the quilt:
Many of you will recognize this as our own Betty Jo's wonderful quilt! It was really great to see it in person! Just before lunch, we met up with some of our TQS friends:
From left to right we have Melony, Diane, Sharon, Flat Rita, myself and Linda. What a fun group of friends to enjoy the show with!
