Flat Rita spent the day yesterday at the Rocky Mountain Quilt Festival in Loveland, CO. And what a wonderful time she had!! She and I got there early and just hung out outside until the doors opened. She decided to spend the day in the pocket of my purse so she could see everything, but wouldn't get too tired out. After all, she's also at the Festival of Quilts so it's a pretty big day for her!
This show included quilts from the local guilds as well as the entire set of Hoffman Challenge quilts. There were also a bunch of good vendors, but Flat Rita was very careful with her money. I wasn't!! As we were enjoying the Hoffman Challenge quilts, we came across one that we really loved and Flat Rita insisted that we get a picture of her enjoying the quilt:
Many of you will recognize this as our own Betty Jo's wonderful quilt! It was really great to see it in person! Just before lunch, we met up with some of our TQS friends:
From left to right we have Melony, Diane, Sharon, Flat Rita, myself and Linda. What a fun group of friends to enjoy the show with!

BJ, I really liked having my picture taken with Irene too. Doesn't she look well! And great to be with all my TQS friends. And Nancy, thanks for letting me stay in the pocket of your bag, I was feeling a little tired (and hung over after all that whiskey and maltesers in Lorchen's suitcase. )

Well I first met Rita at Starbucks
Look at Lorchen's cheeky face up to mischief. Ann is trying to look serious
They did look after you Rita
Rita got quite excited at the prospect of glimpsing Kaffe Fassett so we lurked near his quilt
A man said ooh you've got one of those ... and was a bit nonplussed when he met Rita

We started out bright and early for Missouri on Saturday morning. Flat Rita was very excited knowing she would be seeing Indiana, Illinois and Missouri. Unfortunately, what Flat Rita saw was a lot of corn and soy bean fields. The only difference in the three States were when we were closer to Missouri the terrain became hilly instead of flat. Flat Rita was excited about having a new dress. She sure looked pretty!
Flat Rita spent a little time checking out the growth chart that Eli's grandma and grandpa made for him.
Then she went to check out the sweets table. I think Flat Rita likes sweets.
The table full of presents was her next stop. She really liked hanging out with the Toy Story characters.

Then it was time to sing Happy Birthday to Eli. He really wasn't sure about all those people standing around making noise and thought about crying.
But then his mommy whispered to him that Flat Rita is a famous singer from Ireland and he cheered up.
Flat Rita wanted to be close when Eli had his first cupcake and even managed to not get frosting on her new dress.

Eli did manage to get the frosting all over him.
Then Eli decided to get to know Flat Rita a little better (it's alright, no one-dimensional characters were injured).
Flat Rita couldn't understand why anyone would buy Eli a "do-rag" but someone did. It became clear when she saw the second part of the gift (do you really think a one year old boy should have a Harley Davidson?).
