Thanks everyone for sharing their previous experiences keeping us all informed! Can't believe Festival is NEXT WEEK! I am really looking forward to seeing everyone. Dinner was great last year, friends, food, laughter, who could ask for more. For all who will experience Festival for the first time, I can tell you I still walk around with that "deer in the headlight" look, it really is overwhelming first time around. But OH so much fun! Special Thanks to Margo, your info is so very helpful; Wanda, for coordinating dinner for us, giving us the time to meet in person. See you all next week, safe travels, Pat

Okay, I'm hyperventilating here. I can't believe it's really going to happen; I've dreamed of going to Houston for years, even before TQS. The opportunity to meet you all will make it that much better!!
Even Mike is getting a little excited; but I think he's really just happy to get away for a little while. The day we come home, we're having a new furnace installed, so we have no heat right now. That's the first opening our HVAC guy had. Please cross your fingers it doesn't get too cold here while we're gone.

I just finished pulling together all the items on my supply lists. It seems I will be able to fit some clothing in my suitecase. I won't have to do laundry in a hotel room sink. I am not at all worried about stuffing my suitecase to come home. God Bless UPS. I only pack the items I know I want to play with as soon as I get home. Then a few days later I get to enjoy my purchases all over again. I am on a beading kick so I will be on the hunt for the beading vendors. I also have the bug for a longarm so I will be testing the different makes. I have found that at these large quilt shows, I always find some items that I can't do without that I didn't even know existed before I came to the show. AHHHHH Retail Therapy!!!!!! See you all soon, Betty Ann

Betty Ann, you might want to read Michelle's recommendation for the A-1 that she posted a couple of days ago!

I've lived near Houston for the last two years so I've been lucky enough to attend Festival the last two years and one other time I came from California. It is quite an experience. Thank you Margo for posting the information about the floor plan. This is the first year I'll be attending after making friends through the HST exchange. I'm so excited to attend the dinner and meet my TQS friends face to face. I wish all of you coming from out of town safe travels. See y'all next week!

I'm lucky enough to live near Houston and have a wonderful hubby who goes with me every year. Bettyann, they have a lot of beeds there, look for the embellishment area. I'm looking forward to seeing everyone there. As it gets closer, I will try to post weather updates, although I don't spend much time outside. If anyone has any questions, feel free to ask me.

Deb just forwarded this to me about dressing for the Festival, especially if you will be upstairs in the classroom areas:
For all of you that was not at the GBR yesterday!!!! It was soooo cold in there that we had to go outside or stand under the hand blow dryers in the bathroom to warm up. Most of us had long sleeves and a sweater, but that was not enough. If I would have had my down coat that is in Montana I would have worn it.
Dress in layers if you are taking a class. I would bring a light wrap and a heavy wrap. The best thing about a class is that you do not have to carry it around. I am wearing long underwear today because I was so cold yesterday. I will be wearing turtle necks the rest of the week to keep the air from going down the back of my neck. I’m sure that a couple of us will get sick because it was that cold.
Also don’t forget to bring something to sit on and something to support your back
Have fun
Donella

They have a hard time controlling the temperature in the classrooms because one system covers at least one block of 9 classrooms. They do the best that they can. If your room is way tooo cold or way tooo hot, the teacher's pet can go to the office and let them know. I agree with Donella to dress in layers. I am usually hot so I can get by with a t-shirt and hoodie, but if you are usually cold I would urge you to wear more. If your hands are often cold, you might want to bring fingerless gloves.
