Woops, It was meant to be a sad face not a smile in my last post. Amo, Is the exhibition an annual event at Radstock, then?

Have to confirm with Lynn as it's with her LQS. I know there was one last year, and obviously this, and I have the impression that as it is such a sucess it could be next year too. Fingers crossed!

        ROFL!!!!
I'm back been away so long that I have forgotten how to type!!!! Had a bit of a family crisis, and as sod's law, just when i WAS supposed to meet up with Amo. Still did so, but was way too short! Great to meet you though, and perhaps we can all meet up again? YES, the exhibition will be on next year, as far as I am aware, unless Chris who organises it is fit and strong (he had heart op earlier this year!) So keep fingers crossed. Our LQS is organising a trip to V & A quilt show (think thats right!) sometime in April? I have definately signed up for that! not done any sewing for last couple of months, and had to pack up machine room for xmas, but am going to unpack tomorrow as spent today clearing up after all gone home. So wil be workking on something, don't know yet!. Just remembered, did sew a quickie, a table runner for dinning room, will post when I download the pics!
Hope you all had a great Christmas and best wishes for the New YEAR

Lynn! (Sorry typing so bad, but had nails done as pressy for xmas and not used to the length! dont know if I can sew with them!!)

Been busy sewing over last couple of days as youngest dd's boyfriend informed me he was going to propose on Wednesday at the venue chosen for the wedding! thought I would embroider monograms on some towels for them as a little gift. But, she phoned me tea time today to say that he had done it! Apparently, as the weather was so bad, he thought that they would get snowed in, so he couldn't wait!!! Ahh, loves young dream!!! SO, been sewing tonight as they are coming tomorrow to show off the ring! Got them fiunished, but have to wash and dry them before I go to bed as I am at work tomorrow and wont have time before they arrive!
Its the first time I have embroidered on towels, and it was far easier than I imagined.
Hope to catch up with you all soon, and that you are having a good New Year.
          Best wishes
          Lynn

How exciting, Lynn! I can see it now (gazing into my crystal ball): wedding quilt, wedding table linen, posh his and hers dressing gowns for the honeymoon, Christmas tree skirt for 1st Christmas as a married couple, baby quilt, lots of baby quilts, ....... I could go on and on..... Have fun, Lynn!

With the present weather in the UK, you never know about work. You may find you gain a work-free day somewhere along the line. I don't. Whatever the weather, I live within walking distance of school, so I'm expected to skid and slither downhill and arrive with a smile.

You need to get some of these Lorchen, they're brilliant, just clip onto your shoes and only cost about £16 - http://www.yaktrax.co.uk/shop/yaktrax.php.

Ali, They look pretty good. I'm hoping that it will be another 47 years before we get bad winter weather like this again. I'm not likely to need ice grips by then. On the other hand, if I bought some, it should guarantee that we wont have a bad winter for a very long time. :-)

Thanks a lot, Ali! Definitely something to have ready for next winter. Somehow I don't think I could get them quick enough this year. We haven't had a mail delivery for over a week, and this morning it was so icy here that several of the school buses did not make it. We could have the same again tomorrow morning. But we are not easily beaten, and so far the school has stayed open.

We have not been having the best weather here in Southern Texas USA but today it was close to 70 degrees Fahenheit for most of the afternoon. Some drizzle but still a nice day. So if any of you are sick of your cold and dreary weather, I have an extra bed or two at my house in Texas, USA and would love to have visitors. (And if too many of you come we will pull in the motorhome!!!!) Would love to come back to the UK to visit but enjoy your posts along the way, (special hellos to Pam and Lorchen), Hugs, Ann

Ann, I am glad your weather has improved. It's finally stopped snowing and is starting to thaw at last. This is the worst snow we've had here since 1962/63. Pete and I remember it well. I hope that one day I may take you up on the offer of a bed. Take care of yoursleves. Hugs Pam

Lorchen, I had to laugh. Our daughter got married this summer, and at their reception they had "wishing boxes" where guests could write down their predictions / wishes for the couple after 1 year, 10 years and 25 years of marriage.

One guest wrote: "I predict you will have a lot of quilts!"

                          What a lovely idea, Beth!

I'm about to seriously start planning that first (and second, and third) baby quilt.

And I'm going to agonize over it. My son (interior architect and designer working for Norman Foster and Partners) is a perfectionist and difficult to please. Kerri is a wonderful girl who has a sense of fun, loves a bit of pink, purple, and 'blink' and would love and treasure anything I make. I have to find a way of pleasing both. It'll be fun to sort out.

Hi folks I discovered TQS late last year and have been hooked so have just taken a membership out. Found this UK forum and hope to join in the " chat". I quilt, embroider, and feel lost if I have no sewing on the go. I really should be working on my quilt now but got side-tracked on the computer. byee for now
