Hi Quilt42, no, you don't need to go as far from Newcastle as Birmingham to find a quilt shop in the UK! There are several "up north" and if you're ever returning to this side of the pond, let us know in advance and we'll give you a long list of places to visit . I will add, though, most of the fabrics in our quilt shops come from America and are a lot more expensive.

Thanks Ali, I did see some fabrics in the larger quality stores but like you said they were from the U. S.
I belong to a small group of quilters called "The Blockettes" If you ever want to do a fabric swap with us send a post.

OK, thanks, we'll bear that in mind. The shop in Warwick (Quilter's Den) does try to stock more UK fabrics because she gets a lot of tourists as customers.

I see that this source only carries Stable Stuff in the pre-cut 8-1/2" x 11" sheets. You might want to ask them if they can get you some yardage, as it is much less wasteful if you don't need to run it through your printer!

I think I am correct in saying that TQS Member 'Alibeoly' - at the top of this page, is the owner of the recommended site Asding.
I have used this site a few times for thread, batting and Ricky's stable stuff and found the service excellent.

I'll second that! sometimes it is nice to be able to enquire for suppliers or about supplies or about shows 'over here' rather than what is available 'over there', we are all here to have fun

I am so excited! I just found out I will be moving to the UK this summer. I will be at RAF Lakenheath. Looks like that is about 2 hours north of London. I will most likely be there for 3 years. Can't wait!

Hi Lorna when you get here check out "Quilter Haven" it's in Wickham Market not far from Lakenheath, you will find fabric more expensive here than in the U S however. Another great quilt shop is Sew an Sew's in Bungay a bit further away but well worth a visit.Dorothy Suffolk UK
