Thanks Dorothy for the info on local shops. Looking forward to exploring while I am there. Are there such things as local quilt guilds like we have here. A group that gets together once a month or so for sharing, speakers, classes or the like? Though I would like samples of regional fabrics and stuff, my plan is to at least buy now the supplies I need to finish the many projects I have started and bring it with me.

Margo, thanks. I received one of yours too! of course. Actually received 2 but already shipped the 2nd baggie out + the 46 extra I received. Like others I find it amazing that I didn't receive back any of my own.

Lorna, Yes we have local quilt guilds. Check out http://www.quiltersguild.org.uk/ This is the website of Quilters Guild of Great Britain. Go into their areas link to find details of their geographic areas and local guilds. They also have a quilt museum in York. Also check out http://www.twistedthread.com/pages/e...ition.aspx?id= for details of the biggest quilt show in Europe , Festival of Quilts held every August in Birmingham. Details of other regional shows will be found in the UK Patchwork and Quilting magazine and Popular Patchwork magazine which you will find in the shops when you are here. Have fun with your quilting experience.

        Lorna,
when you get over here, and decide to go to the Quilt Museum, give me a shout and we can try to meet up, because York is only 25 miles from where I live and I love going to that museum.

Sorry , but no, I am currently a midday bouncer -sorry- supervisor (aka dinner lady) at the local primary school so mid-week isn't possible for me.

No, sorry Lynn. I'll get to go one day. I hope that you have a great time. Yvonne Jenkins (yjenn) lives in Malvern, so it may be worth sending her an email.

OH ROSEMARY! I just had a flashback of Mrs. Justice pacing the lunchroom with her ruler, arms crossed over her very large bosom, looking very sternly at anyone who was misbehaving back in the 50s!!!

There's also a nice little fabric shop in Wisbech (pron Wisbeach) which is closer, less than an hour's drive from Lakenheath. The owner there is very friendly and helpful - I've only popped in once on our way back from Norfolk, but would definitely go back again. http://www.topstitchfabrics.co.uk
