My oh, my that is beautiful quilting and hand embroidery (?) on the butterfly. What is flutter quilting--it looks like feathers?

Love the mug rug you made for Nancy Wendy, beautiful quilting. I wish I could quilt like that. You will have to give me a lesson. Why is it called flutter quilting?

On my computer--the first is up side down and the second is right side up but when I click on the upside down one it is right side up!

I'd like you all to meet Angus and Morag. These two gorgeous Scottie dogs have come right down from a part of Scotland that I love. Maureen even used the Anderson Tartan on the back and for the bow of Angus. I also looove the thread that Maureen used for the grass at the bottom. Thank you sooo much, Maureen! My very own little piece of the Highlands!

I wish I had a name that had a special Tartan linked to it, but no such luck. Maybe I should go in search of a potential Scottish husband. Here is the Anderson one (very nice - could see myself wearing that):

This last picture is especially for Maureen. The glass you see (notice the dogs!!! Click on picture for larger image) is one of a set of 6 (5 have survived) that belonged to my late father. I can remember them being used when I was very little, so I guess they are from the 1950s (proper 'vintage', but not valuable). My older son told me very clearly some time ago that I better look after them because he wants to inherit them. I told him that I'd try, but that they would get used. I don't hide 'stuff' that I like.

Well, I did promise you some from Scotland AND from Ireland. So here is what has come to my house from the West: A drop-dead gorgeous 'Sentinal of the Sea' from Rita. One of these days I'll bore you all with the story why I love lighthouses, and know the difference between a 1st and a 2nd order Fresnel lens. Isn't this mug rug simply beautiful?!!

Rita used scraps for the backing. Can't remember if I mentioned it, or how often and where, but I adore most things scrappy. I have spent some time looking at the back, and I can honestly say that there is not a single fabric that I recognize - amazing! Just in case you want to see the back, here it is:

Great work, Maureen and Rita. Beautiful. Loved your Dad's glass. Perfect combination with the Scotties.

Lorchen--maybe you don't recognize any of that fabric because it is boxer fabric--how about it Rita? Those are both great mug rugs. Rita--was that picture printed from a picture on to the fabric? Tell us what you did--I can't tell.
