I just googled Kansas City Star Quilts and learned that you can download the patterns for a fee of $20. You can download an updated pattern with rotary cutter instructions 1/week for a year. Right now I don't need any more ideas to keep me busy.

When I received my mug rug from Brenda, I too thought that I received the pattern by mistake. I think there is just something about having the antique paper pattern in your hand that makes it so special. It is one of my treasures.

You can download the patterns on disc, but. like Ritzi said, there is just something about having the original 80+ year old piece of paper that someone took the time to clip and save for me! The other nice thing is that some of these have come with the cardboard templates or cut pieces of fabric. Some have had notes written on them either to another quilter or about the type of fabrics the quilter is contemplating using. I just find it fascinating. If any of you come across the originals from the 50s or 60s let me know so I can try to pick them up!

I agree with both of you. It's far more interesting to have the real thing. The only reason I'd download those patterns is if wanted to make them all. I don't think I would enjoy doing that.

              Ritzy,
It's so true that there is nothing like touching and holding that antique piece of paper in your hands, knowing someone many years ago had the same passion for quilting that we all have, and I can't thank Brenda enough for sharing one with me.
