Very lovely mug rug Wendy. I would love to know how you did your binding. The one you made for me is done the same way and I can't figure it out.

It has taken me a while to read through the many pages I missed while I was on holiday but I am up-to-date now. What absolutely beautiful mug rugs that have been sent and received while I was away, a real feast to the eye. As usual, the workmanship has been terrific and I am sure the receivers have been thrilled. It has been a real pleasure to go to another page and find another lovely mug rug or two.

It's a cotton ribbon I get from 'images of Egypt' at the shows. I guess you could make it yourself by tearing thin strips.

I trim the mug rug and zigzag the edge then just zigzag the edging on as it comes rather than straightening it out. Rosemary has used it with a ruffling foot I would like to see that effect

I've been out-of-pocket for quite a while and just saw all the beautiful mug rugs on this page--I'm sure if I go back a few pages there are more I missed. So I know what I'll be looking at today on the Forum! I can't get over all the imagination and love in these little jewels!

The recent mug rugs are all so beautiful. I am awed by the endless imagination and talent of all the ladies in this group.

I'm sure we discussed this at Harrogate  , but the 'cotton ribbon' is actually a soft muslin in bias cut strips (I've got some at home, in a safe place  ) - not straight grain, so you wouldn't be able to tear yourself strips at all!

Oh Rosemary you are so pedantic

Rosemary, I was going to say the same thing. I didn't know how she applied the binding but I was nearly certain it was on the bias and not the straight of grain. Keep right on being pedantic. I like it!

and whilst I had the camera out I also photographed the stitch sampler piece that I edged with some bias tape after putting it through a rufflette foot that came with my Gran's Singer

Wow have I gotten behind on this forum. What wonderful mug rugs. And Rosemary, your stitch sampler is awesome. I owe a couple of mug rugs to folks. Maybe I can get those done in the next few weeks.

I had a lovely package all the way from South Australia this morning! Two beautiful mug rugs, one from Toni (Tannes) and the other from Robyn (Benno). They are both so lovely. First there is Robyn's one. A disappearing 9-patch done with those lovely cute fabrics from a mini charm pack. And perfect quilting. This was accompanied by some Australian afternoon tea. I will be trying that tomorrow afternoon. Hmmm, maybe I will make a tea brack to go with it.

Next is Toni's mug rug. A very pretty fabric in the hexagon and lovely quilting with a variegated thread. This mug rug was accompanied by a lovely piece of fabric with Koala's on it. So pretty.

Thank you both so much. I am so happy to have mug rugs from so far away. This exchange is awsome.
