Hi,
I completed my large center block. Looking at month 12 springtime, there are 4 large flying geese, pink and white that are placed between the flower baskets. I do not see directions on how to make these and the measurements. If they are in the directions, please let me know which page. Otherwise, please let me know what the cut sizes are for these blocks.
Thank you for the help.

Hi, I am putting the quilt together and when I cut the spacer strip 2.5 inch by 10.5 I was short, should it be 3.0 x 10.5 inches?Last edited by Pamela K.; 11-01-2025, 04:17 PM.

What should each of the 9 blocks measure? My center block measures 30.5 by 30.5 and the center top measures 30.5 x 25.5Last edited by Pamela K.; 11-01-2025, 04:19 PM.

Take Barbara’s advice and triple check the orientation of the blocks as you sew the various sections. I just realized I made several mistakes in the four corners…and I swear they were in alignment when I started sewing!! I’ll face the unpicking tomorrow. Grr.

I do not have enough of replacement fabric. I've wasted barely 1/4 of an inch cutting strips for four patch. Not enough for 80 21/4" squares.!

You must be using the Autumn kit. My suggestion: make the 4 corner blocks, Four Patch in a Star, from the original fabrics called for in the pattern. You should have enough from the Kit to make those 4. There is enough replacement fabrics for the remaining 16 blocks that are clustered close to north, south, east and west.
An email with this solution is expected soon to all Autumn kit folks.
-
I did not see it corrected anywhere, but the instructions say for month 11 to make 20 blocks. It says to cut 10- 4" blocks to make the flying geese. You end up with enough for 10. You need to cut 20. I have the Autumn kit.

Heidi, each 4 inch block makes two geese.I think

I too must have printed the Early edition of instructions for the 20 4patch in a star blocks. But i had the fabric for the other 10, 4”, blocks so only a few extra cutting minutes and back on almost the end of project…. Cant wait to see how its all going to fit !!!
-
Since I used my own fabric, how can I tell where each block is supposed to go? It would have been easier if the pattern indicated which month went where. I don’t want to make mistakes and have to rip out seams.

Use the pattern instructions/diagrams to place your blocks. They are same blocks as those made with Kit fabrics.
-
I agree. There are so many similar blocks made during the year and with my own stash I dont know how to identify them. A month indication on each block in the diagram would have been super helpful. It may be my printer but the printed copy is just not clear enough especially for the Sept block with fortyleven tiny pieces

No, there is not. The pattern instructions are clear which blocks go in each of the 9 sections. Use the diagram on page 5 of Month 12 to see where each block goes in each section. Whether you used a Kit or your own fabrics, all the blocks are the same. The Layout diagrams in Month 12 show you where to put all the blocks.
-
well if I've used my fabric all my blocks are not the same as the blocks that are made with the kit. For example there are two four patch in a star blocks that are made with two different pink fabrics and I'm not sure from the instructions, which is which. I guess it doesnt matter as long as I stay consistent from section to section, as long as there are enough of those blocks.

If making Spring pattern, be aware that in Month 11 instructions, page 9 for Center Star has a placement error for on right side of block. Just flip around before sewing.
