This is month 9 ?
how do I cut a 51/2 square out of this strip? This is all I have left after cutting a 5 1/2 strip which is not WOF because I used the end for the appliqué
so I’ll need more than a 5 1/2 square
I will need 2 squares of 5 1/2Last edited by sewskeel; 08-29-2025, 04:26 PM.Susan Skeel

I would piece it. Do you have enough fabric to do that to give you the other 2 squares? Use dark gray thread and press the seam open. I did that with my little QST since I was using scraps leftover from the quilt for my sample block.
Another perfectly easy alternative is to substitute a different fabric, purple from your stash or something else from the Kit These triangles are so small it would be very hard to see they are different.Last edited by Barbara B.; 08-30-2025, 12:06 PM.

I think I have solved my issue: I cut the purple scrap into 8 -3 inch squares. I cut a 3 inch strip of cream (pray I have not created an another problem for later) I sewed these into half square triangle units. So now in have 16 more squares to trim to 2 1/4

I am having the same problem with
purple spiceberry. I bought the kit from the Quilt Show and they only provided 9” WOF. In month 6th we needed part of it for appliqué. The kit wouldn’t have even provided enough for two rows of 5 1/2” cuts. What’s up!

Barbara, I’m making four 10” Lone Star blocks as an alternative in month six. Can they replace these month 9 blocks, too?

Thanks for the response. I look forward to getting the big picture map in November so I can see where all the blocks go. I’m going to skip this block for now until I can see where it fits. Plenty of catching up to do on this project!

Does anyone else, with the grandmas kit, find they are running low on the autumn ridge gold? I am using from scraps for month 9 but if more is used in coming months I know I will not have enough.

I’m late keeping up and just saw the message about kits being short on some fabrics. Is this only the Grandmother kits? I bought the Granddaughter kit and wondering if I need to be careful to not run out.

The spring kits are not fine. It is short of the blue spice berry. I have been told by the office additional fabrics are being requested from manufacturer. I'm always behind so I am good with that. However will videos be onwebsite longer?

Hello! I double-checked with both Lynn and Barbara, and I can confirm that there isn’t a shortage of Blue Spiceberry in the Spring kit—only Purple Spiceberry in the Autumn kit. If you spoke with our customer service team, it’s possible there was a mix-up between the two kit versions. Only customers with the Grandmother’s Autumn kit will be receiving a piece of Purple Spiceberry fabric by mail.
That said, I completely understand that you still need more Blue Spiceberry! If you reach out to our Customer Service team, they do have a small quantity in the warehouse and will be happy to make it available to you.
