Hello folks, just back from Paris where DH and I had the most wonderful and happy three days. I just found this post and it has made me laugh out loud! I would love to go to FoQ in Birmingham Lorchen but you will have to give me a little time to figure out how to make a flat version of myself :?:  And after three days of Paris food I am even less flat. I am already so excited about going to Long Beach and possibly meeting David Taylor (I am a big Harry Potter fan too, shush, don't tell anybodyops: )
I just had to show you these photos. Several of the bridges on the Seine are now adorned with padlocks. People have been writing their and their loved ones names onto padlocks, locking them to the bridges and throwing the keys in the river. They actually look beautiful in the sunshine because they glitter like gold. This one was opposite the Museum d'Orsey:
And this one was at the back of Notre Dame:
Ann I love the idea of a traveling quilt - especially here in Europe where it tends to be a lot cooler than the USA.
I was showing this to my daughter this morning and she reminded me that she was sent a Flat Stanley when she was in Australia a few years ago. She took photos of herself and friends and Stanley at the Sydney Opera House.
Ritzy, of course I would like to go to Eli's first birthday in August! I'm just not sure how I will get there. Nancy has my schedule so we will have to wait until she posts again after Long Beach.

LOL) Then I took him to Mexico and to many activities that we did on a regular basis. He came back home with the quilt and the most adventures. If you need someone to make Rita a quilt, let me know her size and I will make sure she is always warm on her travels (even if there are one for each continent.) Love to do these silly things since I have too many quilts in my possession now and way too much stash!!!!!!! Hugs, Ann

Rita,
I am glad that you are enjoying your travels, both real and the "flat" variety! I have to confess that I had not heard of Flat Stanley. I have a Father-in-law named Stanley, but he is 3-dimensional!
Toodles,
Diane

Unless you want more of a photographic image...your album covers have beautiful photos of you.

Hi all -
Flat Rita just returned from the Long Beach show and I'd like to share some of her adventures with you. She arrived on Wed morning and had the afternoon to do a little exploration. But first, of course, she wanted to check into her hotel and put her luggage away. She definitely has a lot of luggage for such a tiny lady! She was checked into her hotel by a very nice gentleman named Maine:
Once she was settled in, she headed out to the harbor. It was a beautiful day so she decided to walk up to the lighthouse with her friend Rebecca:
From there, she could see the Queen Mary. She decided to take a self-portrait with the ship:
More in the next post....

Continuing along the harbor, Flat Rita met a pirate. He was a bit scary looking, but luckily ended up being friendly!
At this point, it was time for the whale watching cruise that she had signed up for ahead of time. Most of the cruises end up seeing dolphins and sea lions, but no whales. What would Flat Rita find? Here she is heading out of the harbor on the boat:
And what do you thing she found? Why, a blue whale!! How exciting!
It was hard to get a good picture with her little automatic camera, but it sure was exciting!!
Soon she will share her experiences from the show.....

A Flat Rita on each continent sounds great! If anyone wants one that matches mine, let me know and I'll send you the files. I printed the body and the head separately and just cut out the head and put it on the body by hand. I figured that was the easiest way since I was only making one. I used Rita's profile picture so she would be more easily recognizable by other members.
