Originally posted by rehakA Flat Rita on each continent sounds great! If anyone wants one that matches mine, let me know and I'll send you the files. I printed the body and the head separately and just cut out the head and put it on the body by hand. I figured that was the easiest way since I was only making one. I used Rita's profile picture so she would be more easily recognizable by other members.

Did Flat Rita get a photo with David Taylor?

Finally, back to Flat Rita's adventures in Long Beach....
Flat Rita had a good time meeting celebrities at the show. She started the show by attending David Taylor's wonderful applique class on Thursday. He is such a good teacher and so amusing! She fell in love with him and was delighted that he agreed to be her first celebrity photo:
Who can resist those wonderful blue eyes???
During the lunch break from David's class, Flat Rita was able to attend a lecture by Eleanor Burns. Unfortunately there wasn't a chance for a picture with Eleanor in the lecture and Flat Rita's friend Nancy didn't think of asking for a photo at her booth. ops:  I think Eleanor would have been delighted, but we'll have to try to catch her another time. Maybe there'll be a chance in Houston, even though we didn't get into her class....
On Friday, Flat Rita got to attend two classes by Karen K. Stone. She is another wonderful teacher with a great personality! Flat Rita had always loved her quilts, but is now also in love with the person!
(We are so lucky that the talented quilters are also such great sharers!)
Finally, on Saturday Flat Rita got to take a Hawaiian quilting class from Jean Brown. Jean's work was new to Flat Rita, but it was well worth learning about! Jean is a very sweet lady who does wonderful hand work and loves to share her techniques. We not only learned about doing the Hawaiian applique using her had technique, she also showed anyone who was interested how she does her hand quilting. And she was very happy to get a picture with Flat Rita:
Overall, Flat Rita was VERY happy with the classes she took and the teachers she got to meet!

Flat Rita also wandered through the show, admiring all of the quilts. You would have thought that her friend Nancy would have taken some pictures in the show but, alas, you would be mistaken. Again, Nancy's not always a thinker!! But Nancy did take pictures of the quilts and will include some in her blog when she gets around to writing that....
And Flat Rita and Nancy did, of course, take full advantage of the vendors! We even ran into Bob the Thread Guy and Mother Superior, who gratiously agreed to a phote even though they were busy with customers:
On Sunday, Flat Rita took the opportunity to visit the aquarium in Long Beach. There were a lot of very cool animals there! It was hard to get pictures of Flat Rita with the aquatic life, so she took her picture with a Lorikeet instead:
Finally, before leaving, we got a group picture:
From left to right we have Kay, Cindy, Flat Rita, Nancy and Rebecca. A wonderful time with a great group of ladies!!
Next adventure: one of the TQS tapings next week. Stay tuned!

Nancy thanks so much for posting all the photos! We had a great time didn't we? I will definitely be going to Long Beach again. And you were such great company I hope you will accompany me again. Me, DH and my daughters were laughing out loud at all the different photos and your descriptions. Great fun!
