Rita - Your quilt is beautiful! And, at least from looking at the picture, I think your big-ass feather in the border looks great! If you are worried about the puffiness of the feather because of it's size, you can add more quilting inside the plumes, but I think it looks great as it is. All of the other quilting looks perfect, too.

Rita, The quilt is lovely. The quilting is perfect for the design. You just stick with your projects and get them done. I admire that about you. The more you make to more you know about what you'd do differently next time. You are my role model for becoming more productive. Part of what I believe I need to do is choose some smaller projects. Your quilt is so nice. I love the colors.

Rita, your quilt turned out great. I agree with Nancy, that you could quilt inside the big feathers and I think it would benefit from one or two echo lines inside. The overall impression would be more consistent with that. The colors are soft and beautiful.

Thanks for all the kind comments. You are all so encouraging - it really helps. I think I might try to do more inside the feathers because I really don't like them. But it will have to wait because 'Patricia' has to go back to the shop for a minor alteration. For some reason I can't get any of the topstitch needles go into the needle slot. I have had to pack her up in the box ready for the courier. I am bereft already.

This makes me very sad. I am sorry to say my concerns are not completely altruistic seeing as I have the same machine. I got it only a few months before you got yours. Please keep me posted. I hope, indeed, that Patricia requires only minor alterations. In the meantime, what will you do? Oh, you do enjoy the needleturn applique. I am sure your hands will not be idle.Originally posted by ReetzbobeetzThanks for all the kind comments. You are all so encouraging - it really helps. Lois you know me so well! I will be working on my 3/4" hexie quilt. I am not sure what the needle problem is but my dealer thinks that there should be a little semi-circular wire thingy where the needle goes in. If that is the case then it has become detached from the machine somehow. I was still able to use the machine but thought it best to get if fixed while it's still under warranty. I really absolutely love the machine and FMQ is a dream on it. I have even convinced one of my quilting friends to get one too.

I sure do like your quilt ! and the quilting on it ! I do see what you mean about the feathers... and
like Nancy..think some "fill" in them would even out the density ! Sorry to hear your machine has an
issue...hope it is a simple fix and she comes home better than ever !! In the mien time..on
to the next project ! Can fill feathers later ! Are those hexies 3/4 on the side or 3/4 dia. across ?
Have I missed what the project might be ?? Or is it a secret ?

Rita I love your quilting and agree that you'll probably like the big feather even more with more quilting. The quilt is really pretty and I'm also SO impressed with all the things you finish while taking care of your family and all.Lyndhurst, Ohio USA - East Side Suburb of Cleveland, Ohio

Thanks Marilyn and Karen. Karen, my daughter has been better this week so not as demanding which makes it easier to slip into my sewing room. And being virtually housebound with her means I have a lot more time at home than usual. :? Marilyn, the hexies are 3/4" on the side. And it's not a secret I just started to make a quilt with hexies using up even more of the scraps I seem to have accumulated. I coloured in an idea on hex graph paper about 6 months ago and then forgot all about it for a long time. Hexies are a great thing to do on the go so I took some with me while I was traveling during the summer. I have about 600 hexies done but not very much of the actual quilt. Here's a photo I took last week. I have added another round since then.

Beautiful quilt Rita! Ditto to everything that's been said
So glad to hear your DD is doing better. Wow! Those are pretty tiny hexies  how big are you planning on making your quilt? Have an idea how many pieces are you going to use? Looks really good in the photo. Are you going to be "building" it all around the center flower or are you making several pieces and joining them together? No, no, no, I'm not an FBI covert agent  just curios and interested since I been collecting polka dot fabrics for a hexies quilt, not sure about the design yet. Trying to decide whether I want to make a traditional design or something more custom and contemporary

Rita...
Nice little hexies ! It's a good thing they are kinda addictive ! Even a small thing takes a bunch !
I do like making them...portable and all ! I see I do mine a bit differently so that there is no basting
to remove. But I've tried lots of ways ! Haven't looked into Mickey Depre's "Pieced Hexies" yet...but
boy, they look interesting. Glad your daughter is doing a little better...it' s a tough illness !
