Here are two links I have found helpful in looking for shops in the UK. I don't think it is all of them, but it is a start.

Wendy, Thanks for the link. I think Duxford is not too far from me. I'll have to put those two shows on my calendar.

Marianne, whilst I haven't visited Doughtys shop in Hereford they are the first stand I head for a quilt shows, as they have great quality fabrics and great prices. Check out their website http://www.doughtysonline.co.uk/ They also travel around the country bringing their 'roadshow' to local guilds/groups. They bring their fabrics to you. Their website shows that they will be in Cardiff on 2 February 2013 at Heath Community Centre, King George V Drive East, Cardiff CF14 4PP from 10.30-2.30pm. It should be well worth a visit.
In leafy Berkshire, south of England.

I had my eyes on that show ever since we moved here but it is the only week-end we could get both my daughters together here to tidy all their childhood stuff and toys which we have had stored for years but we now are falling over, having falling on us and desperately need to get reduced to a scale they have no idea (but they will find out  ) so sadly I can't go. It was on the cards for them to get together for over a year before we moved because we knew we wanted a much smaller house but there was always something that made it impossible. Now I have them nailed down to that week-end there is no way I am going to say I want to go to Malvern instead  BUT just think about it - next show I will have so much more space for my shoppingOriginally posted by twigletand Malvern Autumn quilt show is on next week with lots of traders. Lorna and Pam,
thank you both very much. I will try the links; the second one I actually know from my time in Belgium but never thought to look at for shops here and I will mark the date in February in my diary to go and see what Doughtys bring with them to a venue like that. In the mean time I will try to find out if a quilting group use that community centre. That could very well be the case. I must do some digging.

Good luck on the clearing out! my mum has been trying to off load my stuff onto me since I married (18 years & counting  ) & I don't think I've got everything yet! That includes my old soft toys - I've got the important 2 Furry Chap & Pink Panther 8) Still I did come away with a load of fabrics, and helped sort out leftover fabrics from church embroidery repairs, that she won't be needing any more, this summer.Originally posted by Marianne-is-sewingI had my eyes on that show ever since we moved here but it is the only week-end we could get both my daughters together here to tidy all their childhood stuff and toys which we have had stored for years but we now are falling over, having falling on us and desperately need to get reduced to a scale they have no idea (but they will find out  ) so sadly I can't go. Do you think 1 suitcase will do? Their website is so full of fabrics that it is frightening. Mind you when I go I might be so intimidated that I come home without so much as a fat quarter. This has happened to me at shows in the past. I really need a shopping list and have somebody with me who keeps me from bolting until I have finished the list.Originally posted by LorchenMay I suggest that you take a small suitcase on wheels if you visit Doughty's and go by train. You may need it for your purchases.
Next week I will be going to the Welsh Quilt Centre in Lampeter to see their 2012 exhibition: "A Quilted Bridge: The Amish - Welsh Connection" I am really looking forward to that. It will be our first real outing since we moved here in June except family visits. I will bring a notebook in case I am not allowed to take photos. There is supposed to be a quilt shop in Lampeter so that will be visited too. Maybe I will find the orange fabric that started this whole topic off

How about here http://www.oakshottfabrics.com/ they are at Cheltenham & their fabrics are utterly fabulouse.
And for anyone on the other side of the pond having a nosy here, they are also going to be at Houston, the fabrics are on the upper end of the price scale, but so worth it.

Now Oakshot I know. They are beautiful! My LQS in Belgium had these fabrics precut. I have tried them for a small project but it ended in the bin because I was/am just not a good/accurate enough piecer/cutter to use it. It moves too much. Having said that, after I have been doing the Laura Nownes class here (I'm still making blocks, slowly but surely) I have started using starch and have become better at piecing so maybe sometime in the future. I also have a stack of Kaffe Fasset squares that I bought because of the colours but found I could not tame so they are still in a box. I hope to gain enough experience to use them at some stage. I did toy with ironing fusible interfacing on them to keep them on the straight and narrow but wasn't sure I would like the feel of them afterwards.Originally posted by PosyPHow about here http://www.oakshottfabrics.com/ they are at Cheltenham & their fabrics are utterly fabulouse.
