Rita, I'm sooooooooo happy the birds finally made it all the way to Ireland
I just got back from Portland, Oregon where I visited with my son and DIL and went to Sisters Quilt Show, among other wonderful activities. I must admit, that I just about had a viewing orgasm in the Teachers' Tent where I saw work by Cindy Needham and Barbara Shapel. I haven't had time to see if we've ever had Shapel on TQS, but her thread painting is absolutely spectacular, and there she was, in the tent, just talking to people.
Notice the clothespins on the side of the quilts, there so we could view the backs without touching the quilts. A very nice idea. Here are a few pictures, including a few side trips to Hood National Forest with Mount Hood in the background, and a picture of THE most awesome bloody marys a person could ask to drink  DIL is a cook/chef and knows the hot places to eat and to buy fresh salmon.
I hope reality never sets back in. It was a joyous trip.Since I didn't get to take a picture of me with rotary cutters, I attached one of me next to a creek.

Perhaps we should take our own clothes pegs to shows. That would get the white gloved ladies in a spin
Thanks Susan they are amazing. All that thread painting, i've seen her quilts in magazines but in real life must have been great.
Good photo of you, time for a change of forum picture?
