Dear SOTTT;

Boy count me in, I am all for sharing! I would be happy to share some or a lot of mine also; whatever you need to make it right! :lol: I sent in 616 and there aren’t that many quilters now, but whatever is easiest-you guys are the experts but don’t want anyone left out because of a lost package! You guys are the greatest!
I wish I could afford to go to one of the shows and meet you all! I met a 90 years old women at Barnes & Noble Book Store in the quilt book section, on Hilton Head Island & we got to talking about quilts, etc. After a while her daughters came up and she turned to her them & said “See I told you, no matter where I go, quilters are the greatest!”. This 90 yr. old women from CA told me she can’t quilt anymore but she has that machine that has the die’s that she can cut several pieces of material at once & she has a lot of material left in her stash so she cuts everything up and gives fabric stashes of cut squares, triangles, hearts, whatever they need, away to her friends that can’t cut but can still sew! I told her she was such a sweet heart! We chatted a while & then told her maybe we’ll meet again & said good-by. Just thought someone else might enjoy the story.

Thank you, RiverOwl, for the great tip from the 90-yr-old quilter who told you about what she does with that machine that has die's. Sounds like one of the AccuQuilt models! Have to tell ya I just bought the AccuQuilt Studio Cutter on sale thru AccuQuilt, but I bought Ricky's 2 designer sets first (also on sale) after I saw his demo in an earlier TQS Series. My excitement was growing just like his was because we both could see the benefits of cutting up to 10 layers at once and all the time saved on cutting his special designs so quickly! Anyway, I also bought other dies (on sale, of course) and have thot about cutting up different shapes to give to my local church ladies who make quilts for needy people/families. Giving die-cut fabric to quilters who cant' use scissors/rotary cutters easily, but who can sew, is a great idea! Love it! Thanx for sharing! :lol: :lol: :lol:

Hi, my name is Maureen and I live just outside Glasgow, near Loch Lomond, Scotland. I have two children and five grandchildren the youngest being 20 years old. My mum taught my sister and I to sew and knit when we were young. We used her Singer Treadle sewing machine. In those days we also got taught in school. I made my own clothes and when the children came along I made theirs as well. My first attempt at making a quilt was many, many years ago with cardboard template and scissors and as a dressmaker probably used a 5/8th seam. It was a Trip round the World. As there were no fabric shops near me at that time, I went to jumble sales and got cotton garments to take apart to use. As I didn’t know how to finish it, the quilt top was put away with my sewing stuff for many years as we moved around a lot because of my husband’s job – he was in the Royal Navy.
One of my hobbies was machine knitting and after a while I started my own business employing three knitters. We made scarves, hats and bags that went all over the world. Around 1998 a friend took me to the Scottish Quilt Championships and it just blew me away. Now there were ‘proper tools’ and of course I had to have them. I went to any classes that were going. In the UK we didn’t have any quilting programmes on the TV and I only saw Simply Quilts on the computer shortly before it closed. Now I could finish that Trip round the World quilt, which I did and gave it to my mother’s nursing home to raffle.
I became a widow 6 years ago and shortly after that gave away my entire machine knitting equipment to a charity that sent it to Kurdistan to help village women knit and sell their products and have an income. Now I could just sew and keep it as a hobby, it also helped with keeping my mind active and not dwelling on sad things. I organize the volunteers for the Loch Lomond Quilt Show in May every year, which has also helped.
Some new quilting programmes started coming on the Internet and I watched anything and everything about patchwork and quilting. I joined The Quilt Show at the very start and have learned lots of different techniques and loved every minute of it. My sister and I went to Houston last year and met some TQS members for dinner one evening. We went to workshops nearly every day and came back home exhausted but happy. I think lots of people have influenced me but meeting lots of new friends has been the most important part of quilting to me.

I would like to say a big, big thank you to Debbie, Clara and their helpers who have taken on this tremendous task. They have given their time and energy without a thought to how much it has taken over their lives. Aren’t quilters wonderful.

It's like being invited to an extraordinary global quilters' tea party and drinking cups of creativi-tea, serendipi-tea, sinceri-tea, generosi-tea, and hospitali-tea! Hello Fellow Quilters,
I have been putting this off because I wanted to upload a profile pic but have a new computer with no pictures downloaded yet. Oh, well. I am Laurie Gauthier aka LucyLacy. I live in Green Bay, WI, USA. Not exactly a football fan but how can you not be a Packer fan the year they win the super bowl.
I have 5 children, 5 grandchildren and another on the way. I started quilting when my youngest son went to kindergarten. A friend asked me to help with a project to raise money at church and I have been hooked ever since. I started sewing at a young age, making clothes for my barbie dolls and bought my first sewing machine with money from my high school graduation. I make some clothes, made all the bridesmaid dresses for my daughters wedding a couple years ago, but mostly just quilts and bags. I have a TinLizzie so do all my own quilting plus some for others. My first entry in our local quilt show was a memory quilt I made for my mother-in-laws 80th birthday and got a 1st place. It is twin size but she wanted it hung on the wall in her tiny apartment so that she could see all the pictures and signatures and show it off to all the other ladies in her apartment building. I am mostly self-taught. I've taken a couple of classes but I like to take a pattern/idea and put my own twist on it.
It has been a blast reading about all of you! :lol: And I can't wait to get my hsts. I bought Edyta Sitar's Friendship Triangles book, not sure yet which one I will make.
