Sent my package today and sent you an email too Nanee. I am lucky my postal lady worker is a quilter/sewer/crafter too... and she sees me doing fabric exchanges all the time and thinks it's really neat! And, yes, real stamps on the return envelope with a metered stamp on the outside envelope.

OK, here's what I learned from my Postmistress...
First, background: When I mailed them on a Saturday they were working both windows in our little sub-Post Office. I was NOT at the window with the full-time lady.
So, today I'm explaining to her what was done & the PostMistress makes a face when I get to "stuck the metered payment on the return envelope". Yup, not supposed to do that. I said "so I've heard" and explained that this was a large exchange and we were getting mixed signals. She says "imagine if it didn't get returned for several weeks". I said I KNOW it isn't going to get returned until some time AFTER April 1. So I said, I guess I need to buy some stamps, and she said "no, it really shouldn't be any problem." Me: Are you sure? then I explained that the return address was mine too so if it was returned it would come to me, I didn't even really get that statement finished she's still saying "it really shouldn't be any problem. It'll get here..." So even though it's a P.O. no-no, she didn't think it would affect the mailing. My thought is, think of the things the Post Office misplaces for great lengths of time, some of them could be metered!

So my thought is, if we've already done it, it's done. If you haven't sent yours yet, stamps are probably better.

And if Debbie runs into trouble trying to send the things back, I'll send her some stamps AND a bottle of wine!

First I wanted to sew only 112 HST, but then I have seen that I am the only sister of Germany and thought, I make for all sisters and brothers one HST, everybody has one from Germany. It makes me happily to member of this community to be.
So, I hope my English is not too bad, I write without translation programme.

Sent mine in today, too, and the postmistress said the same thing - put stamps on the return envelope. So we did!

Also, for those of you still waiting on your Tyvek envelopes... I ordered mine on Feb. 3rd, got an email on Feb. 9th that they were on the way, and then I received them Feb. 18th. So, it took about 2 weeks from the time I ordered them until the time I received them. :?

SoTTT's Sisters and Brothers...I know you will be interested in reading this email from Sue (ScreenName: CYBERSUE). Sue's was the first package I received from that country today and I notified her this morning that her package had arrived.

Sue lives about three hours from the earthquake in Christchurch and she sent this when I asked if she had been affected by the quake. She said it would be OK if I shared it with all of you.

Hi Debbie,
Thanks for your concern. We are on the other side of the Island 3hrs away, but we certainly felt 3 of the quakes. Our family over there are shaken but have all been accounted for, our son took a whole day to locate his best friend, but some dear friends have parents in Christchurch who among the missing, and they are very worried. We were just over there 2 weeks ago, so are thankful we missed it. Amazingly 120 people were rescued alive during the night, although one poor man needed a leg amputated to free him. It is not only the city centre that has sustained damage as can be seen on the news, but most houses in Christchurch have damage in some sort of way.
There is panic buying at supermarkets here in our town today as food distribution centres are in Chch and once empty, the shelves will stay that way for a while.
It will be a long time to rebuild the city, but we are a strong and resiliant people and it will happen.

Hi Sylvia, how wonderful you put in enough for each one of us I will be looking forward to receiving one from you, I am from Australia and have some very good friends who came from Germany to live in Australia and have been here for many years, I will love to be able to show them the quilt I make with the one from you that came all the way from their homeland. They do go back periodically for holidays to Hamborg and Bovaria
