I haven't used Valdani thread extensively but I have used it to hand and machine quilt and really liked it for both. They have beautiful variegated colours.

I have never heard of Valdani thread, but I googled it and there are numerous shops in the US that carry it. The closest one to me is about 2 hours away. I will try to get some and try it.

I have a few of the Valdani variegated, but always considered them hand sewing threads. They have wonderful colors

Keith, email me your address through my profile and I'll pop a Valdani thread in the post for you. That way you don't have to leave the bench and take the risk that somebody else will take you place.

Ritzy, I can wrap the mug rug around a Valdani thread.

I think I read on one of Marianne Haak's blogs that she loves Valdani thread for quilting. I have never used it myself but now I will have to try it.

Can one walk down one's driveway to the post? If so, that's what I did - and what a nice surprise!!! Two spools of Valdani hand-dyed variegated thread! Yea! Lorchen - you are too generous. I owe you...

What is a mailbox properly called anyway?

And what a wrapper you are, Lorchen!!! I didn't track how many layers I had to open to get to my surprise - I know one was a bright pink box, and there was a batting layer, and a fabric layer, and a cool little hand-made carrying tote, and several more layers...

I've played with the Valdani on some decorative machine stitches - it worked very nicely. Now I'm anxious to play around with it on some machine quilting.

Thank you so much, Lorchen! I'll let you know what I think.

Well, as promised, Lorchen sent me some Valdani thread in two different weights and I have only tried the heavier of the two weights. It did my fancy stitches very well. I used it on Pam's mug rug. Will try the lighter weight soon.
