Thanks for commenting on my post. I looked at the Patty Albin embroidery book on Amazon. I's difficult to tell about the usefullness of the content unless someone referrences it. I will plan purchase it.Jules~

I've done the Redwork quilt (in blue
) and am just ready to start on the double wedding ring quilt. I'm using peach and green on a cream w/ green dot fabric. I have a peach & green, etc swirl for binding. Four inch blocks to make the bigger quilt. Alas, as I was ready to pop in the CD, the power went out. Now I have a mess on the kitchen table (light enough to work on something else there) that I need to clean up before dinner.
I think the book is good w/ lots of info as well as the CD w/ patterns.
Have fun!

When my daughter gave me an Aurora 440 QE, the only thing I was excited about was the BSR foot to use in quilting. At my daughter's gentle push into machine embroidery, I found myself hopelessly hooked on the colors, designs and endless possibilities of combinations. Your fabric and thread color choices sound great. Too bad about the power going off just when you were about to start your project.Jules~

So today I have 12 of the about 50 or so blocks! They look great!
But dh & dd took off today and I'm hoping... they went to my Bernina store and got me the 2 CDs I requested for our 24th anniv on Tues 5/29. It is 1 1/2 hrs away and they were gone long enough to go & come back and have about 1/2 hr there. Could be....
You know I had my hopes up about a gift I was sure they were hiding from me a few years ago and I was wrong.... argh!! Hope this isn't the case.Jules~

Gifts for our sewing are so welcome. Sometimes my family thinks since I have a lot of quilting, embroidery, fabric stuff that another type of gift would be okay. I'm going to drop a big hint regarding Ricky's embroidery designs for quilts - plus the thread to complete the project. Thing is birthday is months away.Jules~

Well, my anniv is May and bday in June. Both on the 29th.... so dh remembers! He is actually good about remembering, just not always good about shopping.
Someone else mentioned Ricky's emb designs. I looked on his website but didn't find them. Any suggestions?
Joyce, who needs to use what she has before shopping for MORE! :roll:Jules~

The designs were mentioned in the blog about a week ago. The discussion was called Rapsodie Fantastique, stating that there would be 9 designs and Superior threads would be putting together different colorway sets. The picture of the quilt posted looked great.Jules~

Marie, I took Joanne's first class on QU, and the table runner is 'embellishing' my dining room table now. I just love it. Her class taught me so much about my new (used) machine which I bought second hand. Your machine will have some beautiful designs already in it, but there are thousands of free designs on the web to try out different digitizers. You have one of the best groups right at home - "Hatched in Africa". Enjoy your machine.Originally posted by mariedutAlthough I have my embroidery module(Bernina 170QE) 5 years- I only learned this week to use it. I am taking a Quilt University class by Joanne Winn- we are doing a crazy patch with embroiderie- her pattern. Do you digitize your own patterns- are their enough patterns in the machine to use. Where do one get nice patterns to combine with patchwork?

Just curious about "elly's emb CD". Can you tell me what it is (title, etc.). Wish I had a machine embroidery club........Originally posted by she-quiltsI'm in the Machine Embroidery Club at Phat 1/4 Quilting in Galena, IL. They are Bernina dealers but other makes of emb machines are allowed. We are working on the book, "Machine Embroidery Makes The Quilt" by Patty Albin. Good book!
For the Baltimore Album quilt in her book, I'm thinking (store owners idea) of using Elly's emb CD for the embroidery. Gorgeous!!Jules~

thanks snowplow for the tip on brazilan websites, i am from Brazil, but live in UK, so you probably knows best!!Originally posted by snowplow3840Two good websites for Brazilian embroidery are:
http://www.jdr-be.com/
http://www.edmar-co.com
and Quilters' Resource has the A-Z books. The one on bullions is the most relevant to Brazilian embroidery.
Basically, Brazilian Embroidery is a Dimensional embroider which uses standard embroidery stitches with some new variations and with rayon threads so the finished work has a sheen. I am also interested in silk ribbon embroidery. Has anyone have a good website for that?Jules~

I just bought my Bernina 630E and tried lots of its different capabilities to create my grandson's Backyardigan Buddies quilt. I couldn't find any fabric so combined applique, embroidery, digitizing designs into quilting motifs, letter embroidery of the theme song, decorative stitching into the quilt and then embroidered a label with Pablo on it. Sometimes I spent days trying to learn a new technique to use but I think it was really worth the effort. I did a whole lot of unpicking and used some words that made DH blush, but I think it just expands the creative process.
I used to do lots of hand work but I had both of my thumb joints replaced last year. While I am now pain free, I cannot do much handwork. Bless these manufacturers for designed home machines to allow those of us who are challenged in some way to do what we love.

I just signed up for a class on Quilt University with Joanne Winn that starts next month. What did you think about the class?? I have been wanting to quilt some of my quilts with embrodiery designs rather than doing free motion... so I'm looking foward to the class.

waking up an old topic, does anyone have information on Elly's embroidery CD in the USA? I see one online in the UK as a USB stick and wonder if it would work on our USA machines.
Anyone know how to make a pounds to dollars estimate?
Additionally, does anyone have a good source of information about multiple hoopings, especially when a design needs to be cut in half & the sides matched up?
