Well, I just got it down to 50 minutes for one long strip. I''m using vellum & got rid of all the lines but a half inch outside the stitching line on each side, and wrote orange point and blue point on opposite sides.Originally posted by gynconnieI timed sewing one of the long strips today: 45 minutes.
I fold the seam, before I sew it, back over a metal hemmer (like a card, but metal), to make sure my seam allowance is correct. It's working much better today.
By the way, that shaver/seam destroyer is awesome! Mine came in the mail today & I had to try it out immediately. It even works on those 1.0 mm stitches. Yeah!

I was finishing another project and didn't get the BOM started until last week. The original directions didn't do much for me either so that slowed me down too. I'm pretty new to quilting, but couldn't resist this project when I saw it in Houston. When I saw the paper piecing directions, I decided it was time! I've done the 8 long strips and am ready to do the 8 short ones, but haven't cut the fabric yet. Now I see comments about the kit not having enough fabric for pp! I'm going to have to do some measuring before making any cuts.
Can anyone tell me if they did pp with the kit and had enough fabric? I've cut cautiously and tried not to waste. I did not make generous cuts..
PS. Thank you Margo! With my iPad playing your video right next to my machine, my sashing looks awesome!

Susan, you are seriously brilliant! It never occurred to me that the seam destroyer could be used to unsew paper-pieced booboos. After sewing the wrong endpiece TWICE to the same nearly-completed foundation, I was ready to say some bad words, since fabric is in such short supply. After reading your comment, I decided to have at it with the Wahl clippers. It cut like a hot knife through butter, with no damage to the foundation or the fabric piece. Can I give you a virtual hug? :POriginally posted by suehenyonWell, I just got it down to 50 minutes for one long strip. Janie, I just used tape which is demonstrated in my video: learn/classrooms/
