Paper pieced?

I finally got a strip paper-pieced that covers all the needed lines. Now to cut the kit fabric. Are we to cut the fabric for paper piecing per the original instructions (two 18" x WOF). I gather we then cut these strips into 3" strips along the lengthwise grain?
I'm using templates that have 3/8" outside the stitching line. Do you think I'll have enough fabric?

I purchased my seam ripper last week from a vendor at the Myrtle Beach Quilt Party. Brenda Arrowood at http://www.schoolhousequiltsnc.com. She will do mail orders, but I don't know if she will ship internationally. The model number on the clippers is 9962. It came in a bag labeled "The Quick Ripper" with website http://www.jmichellewatts.com.

Connie, I also have a Featherweight and I love it too! I always do my paper piecing on it, it works so much better, and I don't get slipping as I do with my Bernina. It's a great little machine.

Sue, if you are paper piecing with the templates, you may cut your 3" strips across the width of the fabric (not lengthwise) so that the grain line is along the wide bottom of the triangles. Or...you may cut them along the lenghwise grain. You just don't want the wide bottom of the triangles on a bias grain.

You will run out of fabric, but more is going to be sent to everyone who purchased the kit.

I too have "abandoned ship" with the Striplate method, and started paper piecing. This is my first time and love the paper piece method along with the finished result it is so nice and perfect. Thanks Margo for the videos and great instructions, it was such a big help.

Well folks, I'm down to an hour per double strip, so I figure I have at least 12 hours of piecing to finish this month's section. Thank goodness I'm retired!!!! I'm hoping that in a few more strips, I'll have this on automatic. I thought I had all the pieces cut then realized I only had half of them cut, but cutting is the easy part. Thank goodness for audiobooks!

at the begning i didnt like paper piecing
but now i gathered some rools that help me a lot
and now i seldom make mistakes on this method

                    1. i learned from jodi davis i think her name is that the paper is
on the fabrics while the fabrics are right sides together as normal sewing.

                    2. i use the method of carol doak from the tqs show

                    3. and from alicia ettic videos (i think it doesnt exist any more the spesific video)
i learn that when you fold the paper (the piece that you need to sew)
it is actually the same shape you need to cut, it is in mirror image of the piece that you need to saw
this is the most important point so you never cut too short
                    i hope it is clear!!

                    cheers
thanks margo for the videos they are very very useful!! thanks again

Susan, out of curiosity, I timed sewing one of the long strips today: 45 minutes. One thing I did today that I wasn't doing previously was to pre-crease all the fold lines on the paper foundation before I started sewing. It seemed much easier than establishing the fold when there is already fabric sewn to the foundation.

As far as sewing entertainment is concerned, I have figured out how to watch old TV and movies with Netflix on my iPad. With my little featherweight and my compact "entertainment center" I can sew virtually anywhere in my house! (I've given up on TV, since I can't turn the darn thing on unless my husband is home...too many remotes! ops: )
