    Month Three (March) Ruffled Roses

I can't wait to see what this month brings! I am so enjoying the creativity in your quilts!
(Click twice on these photos for a closer look!)

Here is my Scrappy Ruffled Roses:

Here is my Beloved Beauties version:

Margo, I have a GREAT IDEA! How about if I trade you my unfinished quilt for one of your finished ones (either one, I'm not picky!) Then you'll have something to work on too, and I'll have a masterpiece!

I should be getting my kit with the Beloved Beauties fabric sometime soon. I ordered the day I saw it was available, and they shipped it next day (yay, Jeff!). Just couldn't decide on a color palette I liked better than the Beloved Beauties one. Trying not to think about being behind. Margo, I'm going to be rereading your tips and advice once I get started. This month is a beauty!

I was able to get my half inch border on yesterday. After that I prepped one of the scalloped borders, and appliqued them down last night. The scalloped border really frames this portion of the quilt beautifully. I really am enjoying this quilt.

I made the blue floater, it was easy. I have not started applique yet, because I have still problems with my printer. All settings should be right. I measured the test square and there is teeny tiny difference in height and width. When I measure border corner stone on last page, there is bigger difference. That makes corner stone appliques little unbalanced and swags too long. My printer is old and tired and don't want to co-operate. I do not know how, but some way I just have to make it work... (And now I can explain to myself my mistake on first month. It was my printer, not me to cause trouble  )

I am sorry to hear about your printer problems. I tried that myself and I bought a brand new one because when it prints different in the two directions you can't do anything to fix it. If you have a friend with a reliable printer you could ask for help. If not I could send you some prints by snail mail. I don't think it would take long time to get a letter.

i Love the Beloved Beauti version the background fabric is just fabulous for this quilt...I am finishing up one project and then hopefully will start with this in April..it will be catchup time and think I can do it..
I also love the lighter of the swag on the inside it seems to go with the corners better that are also a darker contrast. funny how we are all so different with our ideas and creative thoughts in the end they always looks so beautiful and shows our wonderful personalities

Just double checking my thinking. My finished block after month 2 is 32.25 instead of 32.5 as it should be. I am thinking that if I cut my floaters for this month to 1 1/8 that I will make up the difference.
                          Am I thinking this right?
                          Thanks

                              Thanks Margo,

I have another one. I went and marked my swag border strip 8 1/4" from the edge and across and then pinned on my swag pieces. After I had them pinned on I realized that by starting at the end I would not have any seam allowance on the left side. I think I should make my first mark 9" from the left side or even better yet mark 8 1/4 inches out from the center.
