Well where do I start, you name it I had it, I was all fingers and thumbs and gloooood all over ops: i just so admire hand turned appliqué and i so wanted the puffy look. Margo your instructions for the machine turned appliqué were wonderful and perhaps I did not persevere long enough, I too did not want to get behind and I was still trying to get it to look half way decent when February arrived, so I chickened out.
It was the vine :? that did it for me I could have coped with the leaves and flowers but the pesky VINE would not go right.

Do not fear though I have a small hand turned project on the go now that I have finished my 2009 BOM Yippee and I am determined to crack this and then on to machine turned appliqué complete with PUFFY flowers & leaves. Dorothy UK
You GO, girl!! If you try either the glue or starch method for next month's appliquéd swags, I'll bet you would be willing to tackle the smaller vines in the corners!

And your 2009 Stars for a New Day is fabulous!

I just printed Month 2 pages and I am missing the 1" reference square for the paper pieces. I measured my printed out paper-piece squares and they measured 2 1/2" each on the papers, but I wanted to be sure about my printer so I looked and looked for the 1" reference square and I can't find it. Is it there? Will it be included for each paper piece part of our printing process? It appeared to be there for Block 5 as shown in the tips.

Thanks for any help you can provide.

      Alice

Alice, if your squares measure 2-1/2" x 2-1/2" they will be just right. The month 2 directions do NOT have the 1" test square. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Margo, thanks for the fast response. I feel better now. I'm not a very confident computer user so that 1" reference square was my security blanket.

          Thanks again,

I have just finished slat border, you can see it in my blog: community/my-profile/mimuscraft
I found out that I have issues on getting my seam allowances 1/4 inch. Since I have been using metric system on my quilting for a long time and inches only for a few years, I have to pay attention to it all time. I have a walking foot on my sewing machine, and it is closest to 1/4 inch, but in this project one must be extra careful. Since my seam allowance was a little too small, I used only two of my strip sets, actually there was no other problem, (and I am already planning on something with left over strip set...). I used squares on corners (as Margo suggested) to avoid mitered corners.

Your slat border looks great! And the corners are a nice touch!

Margo, I can't seem to view your additional instructions for block 2. It seems I'm having a problem with Adobe today. Does this information exist anywhere else on the web so I could look at it?

Margo, Alex and I can all bring up the pdf. Please download Adobe Reader again. There may be a glitch in the program. Here is a link:

                        Linny,

The best thing to do is contact tech support through our contact page so we can work directly with you:
                        contact

First thing I would do is like John said, reload Adobe Reader and make sure to reboot and try again.
Also, if you are on a slow or poor quality internet connection, the speed fluctuates and can cause there is packet loss which will cause the .pdf file not to be loaded properly into your browser. Make sure your wireless connection is strong.

If you've been able to access the other BOM .pdf files, then either something changed in your computer environment or

Contact tech support directly if you cannot get it working.

                          All done!
Wow, that lattice border was harder than I expected! I thought I was taking a perfect 1/4 in seam and my first border turned out 25 1/8" instead of 24 1/2"!
                          I guess I was taking a perfect scant 1/4"!
Not a big deal, just went back and pinched each seam in by a smidge and it came out at a perfect 24 1/2"
I am making this one for my MIL, she loves roses and LOVES yellow, she got here yesterday, literally 5 minutes after I finished sewing on the last border. She is loving it!

Tammy, it looks great! And isn't it great that we are all learning how to make thing fit together even if they don't come out to the right mathematical size!!

A couple of seams pinched in, blocking with steam and/or starch or compensating with different floaters. We can make it all look wonderful!
