Those of you who don't follow the Member Blogs, and don't know AJClapp, you need to see her blog today. Not only does she do minis, but you've gotta see this king size quilt based on our 2008 Stars for a New Day TQS BOM!! Of course, she changed that one too and really made it her own!

How amazing mini Ruffled Roses! I had to find my inches ruler and see how much is 8 inches in cm. And oh boy it is small! I am ever so more wanting to try mini.
But there is still a lot to do on my Ruffled Roses february: paper piecing is done, now I have to put all together on lattice border. This is bigger task than I thought. You just don't "whip up" those 112 little squares, it takes time. And also my printer didn't want to co-operate. I printed one page of paper foundations along with the pattern in the beginning of the month, and it was right size. When I started lattice border, I printed rest of the foundations, but this time my printer sort of stretched the squares. I had all settings same, so I think my printer is old and don't do everything so accurately. I solved the problem by using copying the right size foundations to freezer paper with my sewing machine. I love freezer paper technique anyway, so no worry...
By the way, I had an idea or wish for the next years BOM. Or some other year, I don't know when BOM's are designed... Where could I send or post my suggestion?

My suggestion is that there could be two blocks per month, one pieced and one appliqued, as last year, but so that they could be used together in same quilt. I mean that you could make smaller pieced OR applique quilt, OR if you have time and are up to it make bigger quilt with all blocks in it!Originally posted by MargoSatu, you can post your suggestion here, or send me an e-mail. I'm not sure if Sue Garman will be the designer for next year or not, but I can get your idea to her.
Or you could mix and match: if I feel piecing this month and applique next month, I could choose and combine my blocks to same quilt.
It would be fun to us, members, but quite a big job for designer, to design so many blocks... (Hope I was able to get my idea in English words...)

Thank you, Margo!Originally posted by MargoYour English is fine, and I absolutely understand! I'll pass it on to Sue, but like I said, I'm not sure that she will be the designer for 2012.
I just uploaded picture of my Month Two Ruffled Roses to show&tell, but forgot to say there that I could not get all seam allowances pressed towards the center as instructed. I should have cut some seam allowances narrower to do that, should I ?

Satu, your BOM looks wonderful! You just need to do whatever is necessary to get the intersections as flat as possible, but I do not recommend trimming the seam allowances to do that! Try to get your seams pressed in opposite directions so that they nestle into each other at the corners.

I finished month 2 last night, but I didn't take a picture. I'll do that this weekend and post it. It was a little wrestle with the latice border, but not too bad. I had to take in a couple of the seams to make it fit. All in all it looks better than I thought it would. Can't wait for month 3! I'm really enjoying this quilt. It's just enough of a challenge to keep me interested, yet not so challenging that I get discouraged. I like that.

So, after taking my BOM down to the center, putting on new corners, putting on the wrong sized lattice border; it is done. I need to add a 1 7/8" floater border but I think I will wait until next month and combine floaters for a wider border. The fabric in the lattice border looks a different color than the center but it is the same fabric.
