Well guys I was not going to do this one. Was going to try to finish up my UFOs this year but it was just calling me. I am also going to go off the deep end and try to use my stash. I have this mental block about picking out my own colors and usually always buy a kit for quilts. So this is my attempt to break that block. I am going with autumn/fall colors. In the center I am thinking of putting in pumpkins and fall leaves. When I go take a leap of faith I really go the whole route. It's kind of scary but exciting at the same time. We shall see.

Here are the coordinating fabrics I found in my stash. I may not use them all or may find additional fabrics to go with them. I'm hoping to find a matching stripe for the center setting triangles, a stripe for the slat border, and a design that will work for the appliqued swag border. That would save me a lot of time. If I do the center block as planned it will only require the appliqueing of 4 fussy cut hearts. If I don't have enough of the white on white for the background I will use some of the other off-white fabrics. That means I need to figure my yardage first before I get started. I'm looking forward to seeing all of your fabric and design choices.

I got 3 small pieces of fabric from the Bear Essentials line, and a small amount of the white on white. I wanted to feel the fabric, test it for running and shrinkage, in general, just experiment with it so I could know if I would be comfortable with it. Well...it is terrific. It looks beautiful and feels very soft. The white on white is a perfect choice for the white parts. Its' tiny vines and flowers look complimentary to the quilt design. I think the fabric is a great density for hand applique. So that did it for me. I am going with the Bear Essentials kit. I am very excited about the project. Dont know if I would take on a project with so many different (and new to me) processes, but since we will get such great advice and have each others hands to hold...I'm on board.
