Gorgeous! If I'm understanding correctly, we are to purchase fabric on our own. Not purchase a 'kit' from this site?

There will be kits available for purchase, but because it is new fabric the kits won't be available until the end of Jan or so. So you have the option of using a kit of one of the two colorways offered or you can use your own fabrics. Whichever you prefer.

I finished my drawing and I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it. The more I kept thinking about the block, the more ideas I kept coming up with. It all started blending together until I had the 'moment.' I drew and erased, drew some more on my computer screen until I started liking what I was seeing. The finishing touches were made this morning while downing 4 cups of coffee and pulling my hair because I'm just learning my software. I emailed my hubby and he gave it the Hubby-Sign-of-Approval so next is making my templates.

I was going to post a picture but I thought it would be more fun for you to see the finished block instead. My hopes are to get all my templates (and there are many) done this weekend and maybe even get some fabric cut. Guess, I'd better wash up some of my Christmas fabrics tonight!

When Tracy (my hubby) looked at the 2011 BOM posted on TQS, he immediately shouted oooohhhh I love that yellow fabric in Sue's version! Which of course I do too. I wish I were more prolific like some of you are so I could make two versions of the 2011 -- one in the yellow and one Christmas. Maybe I will do a smaller lap version in the yellow just for him.

            WHOO-HOO!! Good for you JoJo!
I can't wait to see your block all done!!
Maybe you can make a yellow quilt for Tracy with a more simple design so you can get it done a little quicker?

Oh, JoJo, you tease!!! I can't wait until January! How wonderful that you reached "the moment" though -- what an exhilarating feeling that is! You've just given me an idea, though. Maybe my Christmas version won't be a full-sized quilt -- maybe a wall quilt. Hmmmm ...

Janice, I've primarily used freezer paper, but I'm planning on using a no melt plastic for the berries and freezer paper on the rest.

That's a very good idea. He really flipped in a good way for that yellow fabric. Heck, he'd be happy if I just sewed big squares of yellow fabric together and gave it to him. Remember, he's color blind on every color BUT yellow so I always have to add in yellow.

I use Mylar washers if I want perfect sized berries. A friend of mine gave them to me, they are great. However, most of the time, as I am a non-perfect applique person, I just use really good freezer paper.

Jo Jo, I'm glad you got your center applique the way you wanted it. I'm looking forward to seeing it. I'm starting to get excited about my center also. I'll be doing a pieced center from Jinny Beyer's new BIG book of blocks. It goes with my tree theme. I'll probably be paper piecing the center and I'm thinking of using Ricky's stable stuff as my base instead of paper. Anyone have any suggesetions or thoughts? Thanks!

Janice, Ricky's Stable Stuff is a stabilizer that is wonderful for using with embroidery projects, but I love to use it for appliqué foundations. Unlike freezer paper foundations which must be removed, Stable Stuff can stay in the project and after it's washed it becomes really soft and gives just a hint of fullness to the appliquéd shapes. For embroidery projects, the excess can be torn away.

Here is a tutorial showing how I used it for the 2010 Hugs and Kisses BOM for machine appliqué, and this is the technique that I'll be doing additional tutorials to share during the 2011 Ruffled Roses BOM.
                              http://home-and-garden.webshots.com/...76127612MrslzR

The Stable Stuff comes as yardage that is more economical to use than the 8-1/2 x 11 pre-cut sheets that you can run through your printer.

And here is a link to my tute showing how I make my own templates for berries and other shapes out of manila folders from the 2008 BOM:
