I'm back! I picked up 8 yards of a really nice tiny floral WOW. It's already in the wash.

I am doing this scrappy also. I have a background fabric that is neutral tan/cream roses. I'll have "rust-ish" roses with teals, grey/greens and multiples of everything in-between that I can find on my shelf. I started with a jellyroll I have and pulled fabrics in that color way. I picked my fabrics last night, but got done too late to photograph them. I'll do that tonight, if I can resist starting on the leaves and vine, lol. I also got the centerblock pattern onto my background fabric, so I can hardly wait to take the first stitch!

                      Thanks, everyone.

It's my first BOM with TQS, also. Looks like a fun group so far with lots of helpful tips and information. I'm looking forward to making this quilt. It's such a pretty pattern.

                        Hi Margo,

I have most of the fabrics for the Ruffled Roses, but am wondering about the 8 yards of white on white listed. I can't see where there would be 8 yards used in this quilt, unless it is also used for the backing? Is that the case? Is that an accurate amount? Thanks for all your help. I've enjoyed reading all the posts on all the different topics and am learning new things.

Mary Anne, I was able to get by with 7-1/2 yards when I did my Beloved Beauties version. I also thought it looked like a lot of fabric, but there are so many little pieces that there is a lot of fabric taken up in all the seam allowances. I did find that with my scrappy version that it worked out fine to have lots of different fabrics to use for the backgrounds as long as I paid attention to the value (lightness or darkness) of the fabrics. If you will check with my supplemental instructions for the January block, there is a chart included there to pre-cut some of the fabrics so that you may decide to use some other fabrics for parts of the quilt instead of matching all the backgrounds.

OK, I'm in too!! For the past 3 years I have looked at the BOM and thought, 'much too advanced, too difficult, not enough time etc etc etc'. I have been following all the threads for this year and am aware that I have lots of WIPs, but also know that the previous BOMs have been major learning curves for people. I need to step out of my comfort zone, I dont like paper piecing or applique. So with encouragement from DH, I have printed out the instructions this morning and over the next few days will sort through my stash. Wish me luck!!

Yay Pam! This year is my year of exploring new techniques and this BOM is perfect. I think we all are in for a wonderful year. Can't wait to see your fabric choices.

                                Pam,

You are going to love it. I'm new to applique - this is my third project and I'm loving it. I'm doing needle turn for this one but after reading Margo's instructions for machine applique I want to try that also. I have a project in a book that I want to do for my sister and I'm going to try that after I finish my medallion block. I'm working on the leaves now.
