I was unrolling my QuiltersSelect batting and found these use and care instructions. It recommends pre-washing the batting. Has anyone pre-washed their batting before? How did you do it?

It tells you exactly how to hand wash the batting. Use a bathtub if it’s a very large batt. It clearly says not to machine wash or dry the batting.

Thanks, Barbara. The batting is for my Laurel Ridge quilt, so pretty large. But I think I will wash it like one of my wool fleeces: fill the washing machine tub with water and detergent, shut machine off, put in batting, let it soak, then spin the water out. Fill with water for rinse, soak, then spin out again. No agitation, then lay flat on the floor to dry.

Sounds like a good plan. Be certain no agitation. Years ago I did what you plan but forgot to watch and the machine went into agitation mode and my queen size batt came out in pieces, good for placemats. Back to the store I went to buy another queen size batt.

No photo, probably too large. Resize smaller and try again

I finished my machine quilting! I had the top finished mid-December but set it aside till January for the quilting. I chose to quilt each block in a different motif according to the block type. I am pleased with my quilt and love the warm fall colors.

Very nice. Good use of the leftovers for the binding.

Finished my quilt just in time to enter it in the Strawberry Festival. I've made this a Florida quilt, honoring my grandfathers' management of orange groves, my parents' honeymoon at Hialeah track with the flamingos, and a few shrimp from my family's fishing trips over the years. I used the quilt-as you-go method to quilt the 9 sections before putting it together and binding it, using free-motion quilting to put orange blossoms in the lighter spaces

I am loving how this turned out with a green colourway. It is for my sisters 60th birthday in October. I have booked time on a long arm machine in a few weeks to quilt it. So it should be done by October.

I love how this has turned out, can't wait to get in quilted. Did my own thing here and there, and lost some points, but I will find those points in my next quilt top. LOL

I finally finished my LR quilt top, I will use a Riley Blake soft pink with white dots for the backing. I did do the mitered corners. I learned so much! Thank you Lynn and Barbara!

Thank you Lynn, I love this quilt! I added other fabrics from Hearthstone and rearranged some blocks. Very challenging piecing, but loads of fun!

I want to thank Lynn Wilder for writing such a great pattern. I made some changes (not appliqué but EPP instead), but the overall impact is all down to her.
