I was unrolling my QuiltersSelect batting and found these use and care instructions. It recommends pre-washing the batting. Has anyone pre-washed their batting before? How did you do it?

It tells you exactly how to hand wash the batting. Use a bathtub if it’s a very large batt. It clearly says not to machine wash or dry the batting.

Thanks, Barbara. The batting is for my Laurel Ridge quilt, so pretty large. But I think I will wash it like one of my wool fleeces: fill the washing machine tub with water and detergent, shut machine off, put in batting, let it soak, then spin the water out. Fill with water for rinse, soak, then spin out again. No agitation, then lay flat on the floor to dry.

Sounds like a good plan. Be certain no agitation. Years ago I did what you plan but forgot to watch and the machine went into agitation mode and my queen size batt came out in pieces, good for placemats. Back to the store I went to buy another queen size batt.
