Well, as we suspected, Terry has prostate cancer. The bad news is that on a scale of 2 to 10 for aggressiveness, it is a 9. The next step is a battery of Xrays to determine whether or not it has spread to the bones, or lymph nodes. Once we have the results from the Xrays, we will then sit down and discuss treatment options. I am asking for prayers that this cancer is contained in the prostate, and has NOT spread!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My emotions right now are okay, as I was prepared for this diagnosis (just didn't think it would be so bad) and since Terry is such a quiet person anyway, it is hard to tell what he is feeling. I try not to be down, for his sake, but then I don't want to appear as if this does not matter to me. It is hard to find a balance. Thank you all, dear friends! I could not go through this alone!

Dawn--I am so sorry that the news you and Terry received was not good news but I will continue to pray for both of you and will pray that the cancer is contained. When you said that you try not to be down, for his sake, but then you don't want to appear as if this does not matter, I understand exactly what you mean as my husband has been ill for a long time and I have had to learn the "the dance!" If you get too absorbed you get sucked in and are not able to help. If you withdraw then you seem uncaring. You will find the balance and I pray you will both be a huge support for each other as you walk through this together.Deborah W

Oh Dawn, I'm so sorry to hear that the news was what you feared. I'm doubling my prayers that the cancer hasn't spread! I'm hearing a lot of good things about how treatment for prostate cancer has improved, so I hope that's all you and Terry have to deal with. I'll send you my phone number in an email, and please call if you ever need someone to vent to! Many hugs, Robin

Hi Dawn, So sorry to hear your news. I am not a religious person at all but there is a Prayer for Protection called "The Deer's Cry" (St. Patrick's Breastplate) from which you might find some solace. And I hope you don't mind if I post it here.
I arise today through the strength of heaven. Light of sun radiance of moon, splendor of fire, speed of lightening, swiftness of wind, depth of the sea, stability of earth, firmness of rock. I arise today through God's strength to pilot me. God's eye to look before me, God's wisdom to guide me, God's way to lie before me, God's shield to protect me from all who shall wish me ill afar and a-near, alone and in a multitude. Against every cruel merciless power that may oppose my body and soul. Christ with me, Christ before me, Christ behind me, Christ in me, Christ beneath me, Christ above me, Christ on my right, Christ on my left, Christ when I lie down, Christ when I sit down, Christ when I arise, Christ to shield me, Christ in the heart of everyone who thinks of me, Christ in the mouth of everyone who speaks of me, I arise today.
Best wishes all the way from misty Co Kerry, Ireland to you and your family at this difficult time,
Rita -
