In the past few days I have finished quilting the baby quilt, and am in the process of putting on the binding using Sharon Schambers method for scalloped edges. Everthing is coming along well. The strip came out perftect using her fold and cut method. My only difficulty is snipping in the V and sewing the mitre between the scallops. I can sew the first side of the mitre, but am having problem with the back side reverse mitre. All in all it turning really nice. DH said it is up there with one of my best looking quilts. Cheryl

Got my "gonna trade it for a ruler rack" quilt all basted yesterday and was gonna start the quilting today. However...I was at the casino from 8am till 7:45pm. I'm done. Maybe tomorrow!

I finished the yo-yos that will be flowers on my next quilt and started making green heart-shaped ones to use as leaves for the flowers. Got 16 of the small size done, and 2 of the larger ones, have to make at least 14 more. I haven't decided for sure whether I will make smaller yellow yoyos for flower centers.

Wow, it has been awhile since I have even been able to join in on the conversation.
Trying to get life in a row, so I can start more projects. I have more quilts and runners to do, a wedding quilt, and found the backing for a small lap quilt for ME. Got to my lqs, Monday, to pick out fabric for a client, who wants me to make the first of three quilts.
I have to get busy, busy, busy. :P Debbie

Debbie, what shops do you go to? I have been to the ones in Colechester, old saybrook, guilford, and Willamantic.
Are there any others that I don't know about???

I have the binding on, finished all the mitres between the scallops, and am half way done with hand sewing the back side.

              lightbulb moment...
for some reason, I have been skipping over this thread in my daily perusal of the forum.

well DUH! what a concept, a thread about quilting on a quilting forum! where HAS my head been??! :?

I have been busy..now that canning season is over(last count, 100 jars of "stuff") I've made 6 pair of pillowcases for x-mas gifts. this used up 12 yards of fabric from my stash, woo hoo! (even tho you can't tell by looking at it)
today, I will finish quilting my huge obw and get started on the binding. I love ricky's piped binding method and use it pretty exclusively, but this has a scalloped edge and I'm not sure it would work.

Well I finally got up to the sewing room and got some work done. I think my Butterfly Garden quilt is quilted. I quilted around the flowers on the backing. They are about a hand's width apart. I hope that is enough quilting. Now all it needs is binding. Yesterday was a crazy day as was Tuesday. On Monday I called Lowes and was told that the chain for the quilt show was in but wasn't cut yet. On Tuesday when I called, they couldn't find the chain or any record of the order. After a frantic trip there with the receipt, it was, "Oh, there it is! I don't know why receiving couldn't find any record earlier." Yesterday they called to say they were starting cutting. Greg and I worked yesterday morning then I spent the afternoon on the computer and the phone working on getting more volunteers for the show. One more week to go, we hang next Wednesday. I keep telling myself, "take a deep breath"

Hi Anna - aka Lady Rags - Regarding my kaleidoscope -- I've never heard from Ricky, but decided to cut another freezer paper square, 16" this time, and I was able to get it to work. I'm now sewing the wedges together. They are working fine. I used some fabric I bought and some from my stash, so it is really scrappy, but I think it's not too bad. Decided on nearly black Navy for the wedgies and butts. The border is still up in the air. I'll post a photo when I get the borders on. It will be smaller than Ricky's, but not really very small.

If and when I make another kaleidoscope I will try to manage my colors better, like mostly blues with a color thrown in for interest.

Well I sewed two or three needles full of thread today. DS#1 had an endoscopy scheduled this morning so I got some sewing done while waiting for him. He's been sleeping most of the day. No sewing on the schedule for tomorrow. I have a meeting from 10-12, ushering at 12:30 and then again at 5:30. Sunday will be a sewing day.

I have not done any quilting this past week since the QS... too burned out and toooooo much LIFE getting in the way. Another stopper for getting quilting done is the disorganization of my sewing area due to the quilt show... So I am getting the area cleaned up....

I realize the whole house has gotten out of control so I am posting a TILDE GETS ORGANIZED thread as a new post... That way I and others can post progress in both areas...

Maybe we can also start a TILDE FINISHES HER UFOS too ... another goal for me and my quilting

I go in spurts with my quilting. My room is in the basement with no windows - a little dungeon-y even tho it's painted a light color. Sometimes I just can't make myself go down there - others I can't wait to get there. Right now I'm "in the mood" as I can see the light at the end of the tunnel on a log cabin that I've been working on for over a year. To be fair, I did make a quilt for my ds in there too - that one's in my gallery.

I have 2 out of 3 kids out of the house as of the beginning of Aug and while it's nice in a lot of ways - more free time - I miss the buggers!

Well as soon as I've finished here - it's back to the log cabin!

Good Morning Cheryl, I like to go Quilter's Dream-Willi, Colchester mills, coastal sewing-saybrook, there is quilt shop in Webster Mass-this place carries a large amount of batiks( have to leave your purse at home when you go there  . Then from there is a quilt shop that resides in a church, that too is Mass.

I have not been able to get any work done anywhere family issues have turned bad. We have to get through this first, I do miss my therapy.

I've been working on my latest quilt. It's a Drunkard's Path variation. I'm going to use yoyos as flowers and leaves on the surface. I've been puzzled about when to attach the yoyos. I'm thinking it would be best to do them after the top is basted, so they're not interfering with the Sharon Schamber-type basting using boards, but before quilting, so the quilting can be used to emphasize the flowers. Anybody got a better idea? I've never done yoyos before so this is new territory for me.

Baby quilt is finished and posted on my profile. Savannah is due to arrive Thursday, so I can add the information before presenting it this weekend. I am really happy with how it turned out.

Next project is a convergence quilt for my son Kyle. He is 17 and wanted an ocean themed quilt. I found an orca whale applique at a show, and am in the process of figuring out how to make the waves the lenth of the bed. I am using 1 yd each of two fabrics and need advice for how to make the second convergence. I have photos of it in my profile. I am wondering if diagonal cuts would work. Anyone with an idea??? I am also going to post this on the Convergence thread.

                                THanks Cheryl
