I got some crumb blocks done. I have four purple and four blue ones done.
I have several more that are almost done and I was only working for about an hour and a half. Of course the purple ones were almost done. So maybe tomorrow I get 8 more done and 8 more on Thursday. Then if I make it to Quilt Bee on Friday, we can do the exchange.

Good morning Pat: free floating, is done on a longarm machine, it is when you have your backing fabric pinned to the machine and your batting and the top of your quilt just rests on the top of your backing, then you would baste your top to the backing.Originally posted by pknordWhat is freefloating? I haven't heard that term before.

Been busy with a furnis cleaning that turned into a "I need to show you something". That never leads to anything good. Apparently we have a "nipple leak" and have to have the block replaced. This was done about 6 years ago before we bought the house and it is happening again. THe good thing is we used the same oil company that the previous owners used and they were the ones who replaced it the first time. They are looking into any possible partial replacement costs instead of paying for the whole thing since it wasn't really that long ago. Oh and to add to it, the previous owners had built a wall with a narrow door around the furnis, so we will have to tear down part of the wall to do the job. Sorry to be rambling about my woes. This happened a day after we had to take the truck in for clutch problems. $$$
Any way my tilda for the week so far has been finishing the 4 Orca whale appliques for Kyle's quilt. Problems there also, but it boiled down to too much heat and pressing causing the web to stick to the paper backing.
I am ending the week with an all girls movie night at a neighbors house. We are renting Sex in the City, drinking wine, and eating.

I finally finished my kaleidoscope. I was having trouble with the width of the fabrics in my strata, so did another freezer paper square, 16" instead of 18" that Ricky uses. It is a slightly smaller quilt, 40 x 40, but I like it. I uploaded it in my profile this morning and in the gallery it is #101159. I have not a clue how to quilt it. Any suggestions??

Nancy, your kalidescope quilt is stunning! What about quilting the outer "star" with straight line echo quilting to emphasize the "V" shape on each arm? You could quilt circles in purple thread in your dark border to mimic the fabric in the border. You could quilt the inner star with a gentle curved line to give that star some movement. Whatever you choose, it will just add more beauty to the quilt.

I have not had a chance to do any quilting in the last couple of day and then when I did... I cut out my triangles incorrectly. Bummer. I do not have any fabric left to re-cut the triangle but I am going to gerry rig the pattern to allow changes.... I really have not choice. I do have a few strips left of the fabric but not enough to fix the mistakes...
I guess this will be a design challenge. ... maybe I should enter it in the UFO challenge with Alex.
