Sorry but I was laughing when I read your driving report. I can really relate though, being the one nominated to drive with all our learners. Our youngest has always had too much going on and never took the test yet so I'm still in the boat with you this summer. Hopefully this will be it. Heres to safe driving, Cheers. This is a fun and inspiring thread.......I really thought it was about a new type of thread called Tilda....I am just now checking it out here. I have various projects at different points...one hand sewing project I work on early in the morning a stitch at a time and many others I work on during nap time. A little everyday completes many quilts. I imagine that is how the pioneers worked on all their quilts.Lyndhurst, Ohio USA - East Side Suburb of Cleveland, Ohio

Judy, I'm with you it took me forever to realize that there was no thread named tilda. lol  I also have several projects going and they are everywhere. By the couch, bed, car, truck, kitchen table,ect...Everyone keeps saying just get one done and move on. They don't realize if we did that we would be so bored and sick of that one and our want to do list would be way to long. There is a reason why a quilt gets done peice by peice.Rachel

This is an interesting thread. have been following it since the beginning. Yesterday I did 2 paper pieced blocks, have to do a little applique on them, then I have to decide how to set them in a little wall hanging. It was my small guild group workday.
Today, no sewing, but went on a field trip with my mini group. Went to a quilt shop, long arm machine shop. We got out charity "Cancer" auction quilt quilted, for the most part. One of the gals took it home to get a bit more quilted, then we have another one doing the binding. (The quilt goes to the SUTTER CANCER QUILT AUCTION.

I am so happy so many of you enjoying the TILDE THREAD. I did not even consider that it would be intrepted as a sewing thead.... must be the computer age I automatically thought of a thread on a message board when I selected the title to my topic.
I have not posted much this week ... too tired from work and not much sewing.... a lot of quilt thinking.... and of course going to my guild meetings... they all seem to come at the same time. I have also been fighting with my internet provider. They were talkamerica and switched to CAVTEL and is in the process of changing everything. I HATE IT half the time I can not connect .. they have been shutting down service at night when I get to post.... I can not find my email.
COMPUTER ISSUES ASIDE....
I did get my quilt top put together last weekend I am currently thinkng about borders.
I worked on my American Sampler blocks (BOM) for next session... we are currently working on applique hearts. We are working our way through FONS AND PORTERs QUILTER's Guide.
Last night I went to BOM Grandmother's Favorite... I got my blocks cut out as I fussy cut a lot of it so it takes me longer. I will sew them together today.
I have not maintained TILDE THREAD in the strictest sence since TILDE'S belief ( Yes there is a real TILDE) is that progress is best made with a needle / thread in hand ( she was a hand stitcher)
I personlly believe that ANY SEWING is better then NO SEWING... and time spent designing and thinking about your project should count... fabric is too precious to waste... hasty cutting leads to mistakes.... so all is acceptable on this thread.

Yesterday I had a Tilde moment: I hadn't gotten a chance to sew much yesterday so I took my hand embroidery blocks with me to the "opera in the park" performance. We had little picnic sitting on the grass, and then I got out my embroidery. After it got too dark to see, I switched on the little ear-clip lamp and the book light clipped to my hoop. I got an entire small block finished as I enjoyed the beautiful music!

OH MY WORD THAT CUTTING FOR THAT QUILT AROUND THE WORLD, ALL AT ONCE. That would make me nuts and sore. I probably would have given up after the128  No though seriously I know it sounds like a lot but then when you get it together it hardly looks like anything. Anything but beautiful. People really do not realize just how much goes into a quilt. Keep up the good work maybe today make it a brainstorming day and give your hand a rest. Or not Rachel Good luckJenny in Oz

Well, I had to shift gears a little in projects. I recieved a call from my SIL and there is going to be a "surprise" baby shower for her in August . THank goodness her DH can't keep a secret. So this weekend I spent cutting and starting to assemble the baby quilt blocks. It s a fan block with pink and purple blades. There are large fans in the middle and smaller fans around the edge. That means a scalloped edge which I have never done before.
Today I hope to get the blocks finished, and start sandwitching. It will be a rainy day so I also want to get more of grandma done.Jenny in Oz

Might as well chime in here as well on what I have been doing. My LQS has a challenge project using really ugly,IMMHO, fabric. So I decided to do what Ricky did on his Road Trip 2 was to pick out really bright fabric to offset it and use his idea of fractured courthouse steps in Episode 208. I put together 8 blocks and they look pretty good. I don't want to make it any bigger so I will decide what to do for borders, probably use the LQS fabric as I have to use at least 1/4 of a yard and another bright color or whatever comes to mind. Then I get bored with working on that all of the time so am also putting together my Civil War quilt drunkard's path blocks. That also takes a lot of time. I have over half of that done. Then, of course, there is the ........................................ Judy in AZ

Part 2 of the road trip shows some beautiful ideas for labels.
Yesterday I was able to get a few more needles worth of machine sewing done on the baby quilt. THe blocks are looking pretty good. Both kids are officially out of school and I predict I won't be getting much done. So I will get down to the "cave" before they wake up.. That is one advantage to two teens. They like thier sleep in the mornings. Usually I like them to get up and moving, but for today I will be selfish and let them sleep.
Talk to you later, Cheryl

It is raining here in NY so I thought that maybe I would get some sewing in. But school is out and the like everyone else kids are home and for some reason mine were up early. Any other time I would not be able to get them to move until well after 11:00. Well we have 3 beautiful large ant hills behind our house and I am guessing 1 under our back porch. Because there are ants everywhere this morning  YUK :!: So my sewing time was dedicated to cleaning time. YUK :?:As soon as we get a dry spell we will do something about them believe me. They are ok outside but once they come in then they must die. Either way I have quilte a bit done on my cathedral window quilt. I am so happy with it right now. It is my bedtime project. DH thinks I am crazy quilting in the middle of summer especially when it is 89 degrees.
