This is a busy group! I just unpacked my sewing machine today but haven't turned it on yet. (Can't find the 110V cord for it) It's been a hectic summer with a few diversions in our original plans. We are now settling into our home and unpacking boxes that arrived last week. We have more household goods that were in storage the last 4 years while we were living in England coming this Wednesday. Eventually I'll post a few pics of things I completed before our stuff was packed up in June. Can't wait to get sewing again!

Geneva - lovely!
Lorna - good to see you, you've been missed.
Wendy - nice project. I think I'd have a hard time explaining to my husband why I'd want to be taking a course on how to 'rip' fabric
Luann - trying to think what 'my' flavour is - you're first on my list!
Lois - The fellowship and sun coming in the large windows with a view of the lake was great. The menu left something to be desired, as did the 40- year old feather pillows and beds. But I got a lot done! I'll try to post pics soon!Geneva

WENDY, love the torn look! Very creative, and very soft looking!
DOROTHY, Yup! It is Glacier Presbyterian Camp. Such a beautiful place!
TERRY, I took my own pillow to retreat. Always do! Makes for a better night's sleep! And, our food was incredible! They have a really good cook now. Her pot roast and her pork roast were excellent, as was her French toast casserole. Yum!
GENEVA, You are being very productive lately, in both quilts AND grandkids! It was requested that I do not make any more quilts, when the last two grandkids came along. Oh well! More time for competition quilts!
LORNA, It's good to see you again! I hope the unpacking goes well!
Thanks for all of the kudos on my confetti quilt. (The eagle is just a fussy cut from fabric). I did a lot of tweaking on it this past weekend. I also finished the handwork on the wool pillow that I started in a class in Houston at Festival. I need to find a really cool antique gold button for it. The one in the picture is just a cheap plastic one.

Dawn that wool poinsettia is very pretty. You can't make quilts for new grandbabies!? What is this world coming to! And you are correct, more time for show quilts!
Ok, you know those really easy no sew, fleece blankets I am making for my granddaughters? I finished them yesterday! Yay! I decided to wash them as they smelled funny. I took them out of the washer and almost all the knots had come undone! (I guess they weren't really knots then, were they?) Luckily some of the knots stayed so both parts of the blankets stayed somewhat together so I didn't have to lay them out and repin them both.
My sweet husband showed me how to make square knots. (It's good to have a Navy man around!) So, I sat and tied square knots for quite awhile. I quit when it became cocktail hour as the blanket wasn't quite dry and my lap was damp. How in the world do I get myself into these messes? I am very glad this happened to me and not to my sweet daughter in law. I definitely wouldn't be MIL of the year! ha!
Today I will be working on layering Dylan's quilt and quilting it a bit. Then later I'll be tying knots.....
Take care, everyone! genevaGeneva

Love the wool, Dawn! You really do such beautiful work! I can't believe you were asked to not make any more baby quilts. Definitely something that wouldn't happen in my family since they can never get enough quilts! I think that'll be even more the case when the next generation starts popping up because baby quilts get so much wear they don't last as long. Oh well, like you say, more time for your competition quilts!

Dawn, I will give my button box a look over. Your poinsettias in wool are gorgeous.
Geneva, I had a blanket like those that a friend made for me. I got to a point where I wanted those ties gone. I pinned the two pieces together and stitched around the outer edge just inside the ties, used a wavy edged rotary blade to trim them off, and have used it a lot since. I also saw where you could make slits perpendicular to the edge and weave a ribbon thru them. I would still seam around the edge to keep things together if a little one decided to remove the ribbon. You can do a scallop edge then. The snuggle is there, just not the ties.
