I wish there was some way we could share some good stuff with you all from the states. We are blessed with lots of online options and reasonable shipping costs.

Ok, This is my umpteenth try to post the post I wrote last Sunday! This was in response to several of you asking about the quilt I made for my daughter's wedding and wanting to see some close ups. Hopefully, with Bob the tech guy's genius and help it will actually post! I have saved the original post as I kept having to rewrite it! Here goes!

Thank you everyone for your nice compliments. Beverly, your quilt puts mine to shame! All those points! Beautiful!

Yes, Rita, I will be making 2-3 quilts a month this year! (HA! And I haven't even started drinking yet today! )

The pattern is called "Color Bar Quilt" by Debbie Mum from her book called "Fresh Cuts." I think I bought this book on a sale table. My favorite way to buy books! There are several quilts I will be making from this book. I think this would make a nice quilt in batiks. I may do that!

I quilted on the diagonal to bring movement to the rectangles. I used a straight stitch and a wave stitch. I used an entire 500 yard spool of Superior variegated thread. After that quilting I went back and added some quilting in black. About half way through the quilting I thought "Who's bright idea was this to quilt so close together?"

The rectangles are 5" x 9" finished. The little inner squares are 1" finished and the inner rectangles are 2" finished. I used 9 fabrics, even though the pattern called for 7. I added the 1/2 finished inner border and made the outer border a little bigger (2" finished) than the pattern called for. No matter how hard I try, I always end up changing the pattern!

    Here are some close ups.

Oh please, please, let this work!

    Take care everyone! geneva

Wendy, Are you speaking to me?
The close ups are of a quilt I made for my daughter's wedding. I posted the quilt on Saturday.

I do make some stuff for sale, but not too much. I mostly give stuff away, to chagrin of my husband!

Geneva, Thanks for persevering with the wonderful pictures and explanations of the quilting. I love the quilting. I love the wavy and straight line combo. Great idea.

Geneva, I think the quilt is beautiful. I think the quilting combination goes very well with the modern quilt. Bet your daughter loved it!

Thanks for posting the pictures, Geneva! I really love the quilting on this and am glad you persevered and got it quilted that heavily. It really does add a wonderful texture and movement to the quilt. And I love the addition of the black thread. It looks great!

Geneva, it was your aim of 2-3 quilts for a whole year that's 24 - 36 you'll have done. I think your husband will be buried  They don't always get it do they.
I hope to do the same but they'll be postcards and swaps as well as for the babies that keep popping out from friends, and some just for the joy of making them. Best are always gifts, it must be the extra pressure that makes you put more into them

Geneva, love your quilt. Thanks so much for info re the pattern and book. This is just what I am looking for. Need a quick pattern to make a sofa quilt. My husband bought a taupe recliner, nothing else in my house is taupe, so need a quick pattern so I can spread that color around the room.
Wow, taupe fabric is hard to find. There goes my resolution to not start a new project! Janet

                              Wow! Thank you everyone!

I really like quilting using my walking foot and stitches from my Bernina. I'm not all that good at FMQ, so I try to use the walking foot all the time.

And, I must confess, I couldn't load the post on the forum because one of my pictures had a misspelling in the name of it! So, everyone, check that if you are having trouble posting. Thank you to tech Bob for helping me with this!

Wendy, in my original post about the quilt Rita replied that since I made that quilt by the middle of January that I should probably be able to do 2 a month! HA! That's why I was being so sarcastic. It'll never happen!

Just finished sewing the label on the rectangle quilt, so now I can send it off to New Jersey for my daughter's bridal shower. Wish I could be there to see when she opens it.

                              Have a great week everybody!
