Show 707 Judy Mathieson
Great show - beautiful quilts - the colours and details showing up particularly well on my computer.
I had the pleasure of taking an Attic WIndows class with Judy in the mid 90's on the island of Arran just off mainland Scotland.
It was an unforgettable week. Nautical Stars is still my favorite quilt and I would love to see it for real.
Thanks for these wonderful shows.

It was so great to see Judy demonstrate her technique. I purchased her last book and followed the very clear instructions and have been doing this type of paper piecing ever since. I even did it on the 2009 BOM with all those teeny 1/2 square triangles and it works awesome.
Her work is wonderful. I would also like to see her quilts in person.

Sharon, I am intrigued!! How did you do it with the little triangles???? :shock:Originally posted by sewengelIt was so great to see Judy demonstrate her technique. Did you cut the foundation papers apart before you sew???

I still spot ironed 4 sheets together and perforated the seams with the sewing machine and then did the sewing the same way she demonstrated. It really can be done with any straight lines design. If you look at my profile I did the New York Beauty also with this method and it worked great. Flying geese are also very easy to do this method. Give it a try. Hopefully I am explaining it okay.

Okay, I just watched the show, and have a concern/question. When you pull the freezer paper from the finished block, does it have a tendancy to pull at the edges of the seam, leaving not so clean a cut, perhaps fraying the edge a bit. This is a whole new way for me to paper piece, and what I really liked about it was that in mid-stream, you could press a seam another direction if need be, by just pulling back the freezer paper. (I think that's what she told Alex.)

Just watched this show (707) and loved it. Going in I thought this would not be anything I would try. After watching the show and reading the comments here I am going to give it a try...... I always wanted to do a New York Beauty using Batiks. My to do list just got longer...........

I really am going to give this a try. I have a very hard time with regular paper piecing. My mind just doesn't work that way, somehow, but I think this may solve the placement problems I normally have with the flip and sew paper piecing methods I've tried before. I am on a business trip now and won't be home for a while, but I can hardly wait to get back and try some of this. Cheers, BJ
