Eleanor Burnes, I love her show quilt in aday. She is agreat teacher, makes everything look so easy. She has inspired me to do a tumbling block pattern using diamonds and sewing the Y.seam! Really was something I tried to stay away from, but it's not that bad-I'll let you know once I start sewing the rows together. Looking back it took me 3-4 times to get the crazy curves down,I watched her over and over,I love her to pieces as Alex would say! I haven't done the Y.seams in many many years,I'm getting a refreshment coarse. Eleanor has Many Great methods and nice short cuts with alot of patterns, for someone who always seems to take the long route, that would be me.
She is awesomeKathy

Finally got around to watching this one, what fun all around!!
And a bit weird too, in that I hadn't watched it earlier b/c I had re-started a scrap quilt I've been doing on & off for who-knows-how-long, and it's a 1/2 sq. triangle block, where one triangle is stripped!! (the other solid) (ok, I wasn't tearing new strips, I'm using any long, skinny scraps, plus, I HAD included a few selvedges, I guess I was ahead of that now-popular idea-- why didn't I write a book!! )
I saw this in a book from the library years ago, & it's a quilt-as-you-go, the quilting IS the piecing. BUT I had run out of the fabric I had used for the solid side of the triangle, and couldn't come up w/ any more of the same, nor could I figure what to use for the sashing which will connect the blocks front & back. What to do?? Put it away!!
So during the weekend quilting bee I pulled them back out, held some up in front of my newly organized stash (thanks Margo!) and I could see it with fabrics that I already had enough of! Don't want to run out again! And I came up with 2 great pieces, even pulling the front & backs together, I had used several Madras Plaids on the backs, and I found a plaid for the front sashings & a (solid-looking) floral for the backs.
So maybe I can get this finished this time around! We're expecting a rainy weekend thanks to Hanna...

Oh what a fun show! I watched it this morning before work. Alex you were a hoot! I'm still laughing at you getting snarled up in the strips. And Eleanor is so fun. I had just put in the daily blog my wish list for more construction techniques and techniques to streamline construction. This was great for that! Thanks and more shortcuts please!

   That's all I did, my neighbors, know I'm home alone, they must have thought I was nuts. Love El to death. I taped most of her shows years ago. In CT they don't run any quilt shows they say there is not a demand for them.
She is a true lady of quilting, and if you get her and Patty together oh my  8)
Thanks ever so much this is my favorite!
Alex keep practicing your stripping, get yourself and John a boa!!!
Debbie
