My husband is a techie who wants to learn to quilt. I told him that THIS is the episode he has to watch from beginning to end. He's retiring in a couple of years-he won't be 65 like Mr. Richard and I think it would be a great idea to get him started now.

The idea that Beth presented about being able to change the ink cartrage for a resist media has me VERY curious. My creative mind is racing at the possibilities. I hope TQS will let us know when this type of product is avaliable to all of us. Or do they need testers for the product. You have one here who would love to try it. Betty Ann In Sunny Florida.

Loved this episode! If anyone out there is interested in doing some photo manipulation but doesn't have any of the fun editing software that was shown, Adobe has a free (but limited) version of Photoshop that can do some cool stuff! When you're done editing, download your creation to your computer, print it up, and stitch away!

Richard (and Billie-aka Mom) Tims are two of the nicest people you could ever want to meet. I have the privelege and honor of being their neighbor - and hopefully they would say friend- for part of each year when we all gather in southern Texas. What you didn't get enough of in the video clip was Richard's dry southern humor. He is just too funny sometimes.
Mr. Richard, Miss Billie We miss you and cant wait to get back to Alamo and see you when you get there. Ann

Two weeks ago pictures were taken at my daughter's dance studio. While the photographer was getting his camera set up all the little preschool dancers were dressed up in their cute little black and pink costumes and a fire truck drove by - of course they all ran to the window at the same time and looked out. The photog grabbed a quick shot of the group standing on tip toe looking out the window - on Sunday that shot was the "Picture of the Week" for the local paper 8) Anyway, I have been thinking that it would make a cute quilt, but I didn't know where to start - now that I saw this show I think I know what to do with it. I have a friend who works at the paper, so I am going to have her email me the picture so I can play with it.

I actually did think of that, but I (maybe mistakenly) thought that since the picture was in the paper that it was now considered public domain. I'll ask the studio owner (the photog was from out of state and i have no idea how to contact him) before I do anything.

No, it's not public domain. You will have to get permission from the photographer. Any photo or images in newspapers, magazines or other printed matter are copyrighted. The photographer will probably give you permission to do it for personal use but if you sell the quilt he will probably want a commission from it. It is also best to get the permission in writing with all the stipulations written down.
