    Ricky's Colourful Rhapsody

Has anyone started the colourful Rhapsody quilt yet? I know there was a delay for some getting the kit.

I'm following the classes, video and shows but doing my own design as per Ricky's instructions. Drafting the design was straightforward but I had to keep making it bigger. I've cut the background pieces and am stitching around the templates. I find turning corners a bit dicey but eyeballing 1/16" not too bad at the moment.

How are you getting on? or are you just stroking Ricky's lovely fabrics

I have started on mine. I have stay stitched around 4 of my pieces so far and trimmed them. It looks beautiful on the design wall. Hope to get the other 4 pieces done today and cut the 4 corner pieces out and stitch around them. I am anxious to start on the little applique pieces. I never made a quilt like this before, but Ricky's directions are very easy to understand. Luckily, I had the #37 foot and it worked well as a stitching guide.
Did anyone wash and iron their fabric before starting? Did anyone use starch? I washed mine 3 times with color catchers. I did spray on some starch to get it to iron better. I was just curious as to what others are doing. Thanks and have fun!!

Heck you've got on with it quick.

Fabrics were washed because I dyed them but didn't think about starch. :? I don't want to wash afterwards in case it runs so don't think I will.

I was wondering if I should wash Ricky's fabric. Cathy, I take it that you have his kit. I'll have to get busy and start washing when I get home today. I hope I can catch up with you. Betty D

I put mine through 3 washes with Color Catchers. The last ones still had a little blue on them, but I thought that was enough. The light green fat quarter I only washed once and I washed it separate from the other fabrics.

Thanks Cathy. I washed my fabric three times as you recommended. I put a white cotton wash cloth in the last wash along with the color catchers. The catchers turned blue but the cloth stayed white so I feel all is good. On to the starching now. Betty D

Betty as it's a wall hanging would you wash it afterwards anyway?

I did spray on a little starch, so I will wash it at least once. I think if it hangs on the wall very long it will need washing again. I know my pictures hanging on the wall get dusty. Must be from living in the country, or burning wood. Can't be from not cleaning enough.
