The colors and design are really beautiful and it looks like you've had a lot of fun with the quilting. Would love to see it when you're done. Thanks, Wendy, for showing it.

I was impatient to get quilting and hadn't got any backing suitable so dyed a piece of white fabric a nice green colour. I put it in the microwave to hurry it along. But when I rinsed the fabric all the blue came out, so then I had yellow  Serves me right for being impatient but it did mean I had my fabric ready within the hour

The one side the fusible web is stuck to is thick, almost like the pressing sheet texture, can't see through it or write on it. The paper side is fine, just doesn't stick to the fusible web at all, is loose, slides all over when you are tracing and cutting out the pattern with the fabric! The fusible web ends up not stuck to anything after peeling off the thick piece, sticks to itself, pleats, folds over, etc! Just to get it onto the fabric I had to re-trace & cut 3 or 4 more pieces! Don't like it at all! I asked if anyone on facebook knew of a place to order the Warm Co Lite Steam-A-Seam 2, a friend in WA is sending some! Yea! I have all my pieces cut out, stay stitched, on my design wall, the center has all the applique ironed on. I was travelling, g'ma-ing July-September! Decided to wait to begin so I wouldn't be interrupted and hoped I would have all the SaS2! Yours looks wonderful! Once you get started, it's hard to wait for time or materials!
I bought some of thiat Pellon EZ Steam at Joann's and it is awful!!! In fact, I bought six packages because notions were half off. I opened one package to use it and I was bitterly disappointed. Is not anywhere close to SAS. First of all, you cannot draw on the paper. It is very slick and not even a Sharpie will work. I was going to use it for appliqué, but couldn't since I couldn't draw my designs. I cut a few shapes out on my Go! to make a block for A quilt we were making for a friend. It says on the package it is Machine Safe...not true! It gunked my needle up immediately. I'm not sure how they can justify selling it. I returned all of it to Joann's and told them what a lousy product it was. Until SAS is back on the shelves, you can try the lightweight WonderUnder, but its not nearly as good as SAS.

Beautiful Wendy! The fabrics and design are beautiful, love the birds, the satiny folded border! Your quilting looks like McTavishing, or zentangle or very much like many longarmers custom style! It's wonderful, gives the birds a trapunto look!

Wendy, I think the quilt looks great. The light in the background draws emphasis to the one bird which helps your eye to focus on that even though there is a lot going on. I like it and I don't think there is too much going on. It is good! Colors are beautiful.

Debbie it's really hard when you find a product that's terrific and you learn new techniques then doesn't work anymore. I might try some parchment as the peel off on the new Steam a seam and see if that works with it. :? Pellon Lite sounds a nightmare.
