I don't have a computer quilt program and guess I'll use the blocks for a charity quilt anyway. Really like this course material so far. So informative and beyond the basics of color.
From the center fabric, cut:
1 square, 5" x 5"
From the large triangle fabric, cut:
1 square, 5 3/4" x 5 3/4". Cut the square twice diagonally to make 4 quarter-square triangles. There will be lots of bias edges, so be careful.
From the background fabric, cut:
4 squares, each 3 1/8" x 3 1/8". Cut each square once diagonally to make a total of 8 background triangles.
From the corner fabric, cut:
4 squares, each 2 3/4" x 2 3/4" to make 4 corner squares.
You can use the quick Flying Geese method for the large triangle and background triangle units, though it takes more fabric. Just google "Quick Flying Geese Units" to find a number of tutorials.
Hope that helps. I love making these blocks.

I am really behind in this series. Just like Rita my excuse is Christmas. In fact, Santa put me on detention and I am still making Christmas Gifts. I did do some of the excercises in the very first lesson and made some table runners using different values for the stars. But now they have to be quilted and I'm not done yet. I am way, way behind in my homework.

Christine, those measurements did not work for me, and I found it easier to make an 8" block instead of 9".
Here is a link to a tutorial that shows three different ways to make flying geese units that measure 2" x 4" FINISHED SIZE that easily combine with a
4-1/2" x 4-1/2" (CUT SIZE) center square and (four) 2-1/2" x 2-1/2" (CUT SIZE) corner squares to complete an eight inch FINISHED SIZE King's Crown block.

About the blocks, Margo has given directions for making an 8-inch King's Crown block, so check out her post today. That would be easier to figure and cut than a 9-inch block.

I have been trying to post my homework for lesson 3 on the show and tell page but it just won't let me so I will have to post them here instead. I did 4 versions just changing the 'light' background and the centre 'medium' square. Here are the firs two and the next two will be in the following post.
Now that I see them here I think the problem was that the images were too big.ops:

So actually, there are quite a few options available to us. Now, that works for the show and tell. I don't know whether you can upload a PNG to the Forum.
